I don't look back on those days fondly, it irritated the shit out of me even then and I remember there were threads at the time.

I'm on my way, to work today.....

I was always impressed by how cheerful that woman was at the prospect of cleaning buses all night. Particularly when she was having to pay a Granny Murray to look after her child, so couldn't be coming out of it with much money.

Bananmanfan · 04/02/2018 07:49

I'm crying at right ma wee pricks
I always thought the the train buffet car man was a bit over friendly with some of his customers (poor pink taxi woman).

falaciousreasoning · 04/02/2018 07:53

I had completely forgotten about this show but after reading this thread all of the songs have swooped back in and invaded my brain. 😫

falaciousreasoning · 04/02/2018 07:54

Also weren't Tina the taxi driver and the train guy married in the show? I seem to remember Rudy(?) and one of the ferryboat band members were also a couple.

jellyandsoup · 04/02/2018 07:57

Mine were never interested in this when they were little so I should have escaped it... but oh no! My dds teacher has started putting it on in their fucking classroom!! So now she comes home and watched it on YouTube! She is yr1. I have no issue with the teacher putting some telly on but why this??

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 04/02/2018 08:05

Tina was Raymond’s beard in that show. She was far too old for him.
Just asked ds1 if he remembers it him and dd used to live it but he doesn’t. Showed him on YouTube and he says he doesn’t want to remember it Grin

MeOldBamboo · 04/02/2018 08:36

It was the poor man’s Ballamory, which, IMO has never been bettered.

ShackUp · 04/02/2018 08:39

looks agree that Tina was Raymond's beard. A man who sings and dances about cheese on toast is not in the market for a wife...

x2boys · 04/02/2018 09:16

oh god i remember this ds1 is 11 now so havent watched cbeebies in years and bloody chuggington too

feellikeanalien · 04/02/2018 19:44

My DD is watching this on YouTube now!!!

Anymajordude · 04/02/2018 20:01

The annoying musician women on the ferry boat were the worst on that. They always looked so smug.

HulaMelody · 04/02/2018 20:06

I found it was so bad it was hilarious.
The market the market a wonderful place! Poor Rudy couldn’t sing a note.

It was the fact they all dicked about so much at work that they had to ‘beat the clock before the chime’ - ffs just do your work properly and we can avoid the whole sorry charade.

Housewife2010 · 04/02/2018 20:11

I loved it. Raymond's song was my favourite. I used to make my children watch it. My other favourite was Come Outside.

birdsdestiny · 04/02/2018 20:12

To be fair Granny Murray taking in the dog was the least of her worries. She was open 24 hours a day and I remember being quite concerned about her ratios. At the time I was using a fantastic childminder but I was never brave enough to ask her for some advice on my latest work problem while she ran around looking after a herd of children.

Mistressiggi · 04/02/2018 20:16

I often whoop for joy when I go to school in the morning.

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 04/02/2018 20:23

Count yourselves lucky. Dd has SN and watched Granny Murray and Balamory until she was 12. That's a long time listening to those squeaky voices. She also used to love the Australian Hi5. She then found minecraft and the videos on YouTube.

Snooks1971 · 04/02/2018 22:23

So, the premise of the programme (I imagine) was to get pre-schoolers used to the fact that their parents go to work; childcare etc comes into play, and is normal and accepted and the way of life (I mean from a toddler PoV , as to reassure them I suppose) .
It actually fuckin freaked me out that this was what sending your kids to a childminder was like!! That was in the days when I had 3 under 3 years.
Since then they've all been to a fab CH, no dressing up of a Claude!

I'd forgotten about the Riverboat ladies!
Tina as Raymond's beard oh yes!! Was it him or
Mickey John who wore a long (leather?) flasher coat?

I’ve now got Dr Juno’s song in my head ‘It’s so exciting in the hospital’...great stuff. Not.
