Were they good or bad?

Mine were usually he is nice but quiet and could work harder

OP posts:
TreacleBoo · 03/02/2018 21:13

In primary school mine were ‘talks too much & needs to not distract others’ & then in secondary school all along the lines of ‘too quiet & needs to contribute more to the class’. Can’t bloody win Hmm

AmberTopaz · 03/02/2018 21:13

Mine were good! I was bright and worked hard too 😇

InfiniteCurve · 03/02/2018 21:16

My secondary school reports tended to say "we are sure Infinite has a lot to contribute,it is a pity that she never speaks in class..." Or words to that effect anyway!

Shockers · 03/02/2018 21:17

Mostly, ‘A satisfactory term’s work.’

I’m not convinced many of the teachers knew who I was (especially as I frequently played truant).

One teacher memorably said, ‘With less fuss Shockers could achieve even more.’ I was third in the year (240 pupils) in my general science exam that year. I lost interest after that.

"Could Do Better"......final result was a B.Sc Hons and a Commission in the Army. As a result I don't get too stressed when DS (age 15.5) is worried about a projected grade 8 or 9 in GCSE.....if only in my day!!

chaucerstails · 03/02/2018 21:20

"Chaucerstails, while capable and extremely intelligent, needs to tone down the arrogance she displays towards her peers."

That was my form tutor in secondary school. I'd say I've changed and grown since then...but I'm swimming in AIBU with my fellow aquatic vipers...

Groovee · 03/02/2018 21:21

Groovee needs a blather to get on with the task in hand! 😳😳😳 still true

Groovee · 03/02/2018 21:22

Blether 😳😳

WhooooAmI24601 · 03/02/2018 21:23

Mine were all lovely; I was a great kid til about 16 then I turned into a bit of a lazy twat and just coasted. At 6th form they all said "great potential, lousy attitude". I loved learning, though, and am still one of those people who just sails through life finding most stuff easy.

Both DCs (12 and 7) get gorgeous reports and parents evenings but I always hold my breath because I'm certain that they'll be big old bellends eventually because it's the circle of life.

ReverseGiraffe · 03/02/2018 21:25

Mine were always along the lines of "very intelligent, but horribly disorganised." Grin

LinoleumBlownapart · 03/02/2018 21:28

I was described as "a chatterbox" and "happy-go-lucky". Most just said I didn't pay enough attention, talked too much and needed to take better care of my work.

BeesAndChiscuits · 03/02/2018 21:31

Disobedient and slovenly in the boarding house, lacking focus in the classroom. Homework frequently not handed in on time, if at all.

Got straight A’s in the end...

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 03/02/2018 21:33

Mine were ABBB 1222 and usually had the word sensible in it. I hate the word sensible and now I am a teacher I won't use it!

BonnieF · 03/02/2018 21:42

Always the same ; “bright, but lazy”. The only exception was Art, in which I displayed such a complete lack of either aptitude or interest that my reports said “Bonnie will not be making a career as an artist”.

In fairness to myself, I sailed through my O levels (yes, I’m that old...) without needing to do much. I had to sort myself out in sixth form, however, in order to get the grades required for my first choice university.

disneydatknee · 03/02/2018 21:46

That I’m really quiet and need to speak up in class. You know when the teacher goes round the class and asks you to read aloud or what’s the answer to the question on page blah...I was silent, did not speak one word. Literally waited until they gave up and asked someone else. I was so shy at school.

MissEliza · 03/02/2018 21:51

The report which makes me laugh the most is the secondary school one which said I had a 'poor competence' in the subject which I not only got a first class honours degree , but in which I also received a number of academic awards. I'd love to meet that teacher now!

PandaPieForTea · 03/02/2018 21:53

My favourite one was a history report that said ‘Panda’s excellent exam result in no way reflects the rest of her work this year.’ I found school history lessons tedious.

Absolutelynothing · 03/02/2018 21:54

"Could try harder..."

Which is true to be honest. I went a private convent school, and hated it. I coasted through, and was incredibly lucky to be intelligent enough to do well in my exams. I spectacularly rebelled....

RefuseTheLies · 03/02/2018 21:57

Easily distracted.

PlaydoughBarbershop · 03/02/2018 22:00

Re. Bullying in my class...
Playdough should start to realise that policing the playground and befriending those who are being picked on is not her role in the school..... I was 8!!!

CanIhavedessertfirst · 03/02/2018 22:00

All my English reports were amazing, but science said stuff like "she's a daydreamer in class and if she fails to focus she will not pass her gcse". Once, my Geography wrote "it seems over 3 terms I have still failed to teach her the simple fact that isobars and the equator are not the same thing". 🙈

HolyShmoly · 03/02/2018 22:03

I think my mum only has one of mine, at secondary school the teachers had set phrases they could use so not that intetesting. The general gist was too chatty, needs to pay attention, smart if she just applies herself, slumps in her seat.

All still pretty applicable, I think my most recent pdr would be similar if it was honest!

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 03/02/2018 22:04

Mine always said I had the ability to distract the rest of the class rather too easily & that if I applied myself in the same way to my studies then I would be quite impressive.... Hmm

TellerTuesday4EVA · 03/02/2018 22:06

Mine were always Teller needs to realise we don't come to school purely to socialise..... not a clue what happened because I'm the most antisocial person going 20 years on

MoonriseKingdom · 03/02/2018 22:06

Conscientious

Every report pretty much included that word, every subject. Was true but they could have mixed it up a bit!
