To wonder WTF neighbour is doing with my bins

We have 1 general rubbish bin, 1 garden bin, 1 mini food waste bin and then boxes for paper, glass, metal and plastic.

Over the last couple of months I've gone to bring in my bins and 1 of the boxes has been missing on several occasions. It has been windy lately so I assumed they'd blown away and ordered a replacement from the council.

Yesterday I was messing around in the garage so NDN couldn't see me. He walked into my drive. Poked around my bins, picked up 2 boxes with their lids and walked back to his house.

I called over just as he was opening the side gate and asked for them back. He claimed he thought they were his (they've got my house number on) but gave them back.

Now I'm wondering if he took the previous ones I've lost. The weirdest thing is the council will provide as many as you want for free. Why on earth is he doing this?

One of our neighbours has done this too. He uses it to stores logs in . Nice and big, and my re ordered new ones are small with council logo.

Which bins did he try to take? It wasn't ones that he may have thought could have had recycled paper in was it? (I'm wondering about identity theft).

Our neighbour stole our recycling bin over Christmas! We had a month worth of glass, plastic and tins (so many more with Christmas) sitting in our utility at one point.

Had to pay to replace it too.

I’d ask if he had stolen them previously. Be really blunt with him.

You just reminded me to order new food waste bins, we haven't had one since we moved in (no idea where it went) so you have helped me out this evening.
With regards to neighbor...maybe someone is nicking his bins and he assumes it's you doing it for some reason.
