Parents ‘helping’ with competitions

AIBU to expect teachers to award kids who actually do their own work rather that the parents?!

DS (Aged 5) school ran a competition to make a poster for their book fair. The winner for the infant department was a girl in his class who is very bright and in the top group, so I thought nothing of it until I actually saw all the entries. Most were pretty crap (DS’s included 😂), but this girls was not - as in it was obviously made with a substantial amount of adults help. Surely teachers shouldn’t have awarded it to the girl been as it wasn’t made by her?! Or maybe I’m being unfair as the Mum annoys me 😂

I know what you mean. When my two eldest were small, we had an Easter shield competition and they made their shields. They stuck balloons on them and did all sorts!
Others had works of art, and the girls Easter bonnets were very professional as well! One of my boys won! He won because it was very obvious that a child had done it. All the other parents moaned!

My DDs school awards to those obviously completed by the child- only fair that way!
