To think a tree won’t fit through a letterbox?

Bloody yodel. They’ve broke my letter box trying to post a magnolia tree through it. My neighbour caught them. Now there’s a terrible draft.

Ah but oak trees from little acorns grow. Your letterbox might have survived an acorn (sorry Blush ).

I've just bought a magnolia twig because I'm missing the huge magnolia tree in my old house. It's true they drop their petals quite quickly. But it has a "dance of the dying swan" quality I quite enjoy. All brief beauty and drama and then collapse.

Our cat ate an entire tree in one bite once.

DD was devastated. She'd been growing it from a seed for weeks.

Lucky for you that the brainbox delivery driver didn't deliver it into the bin. I've had that happen before

Birdsgottafly · 02/02/2018 02:46

"was it a waste of money this twig?"

No, it's what is called a bare root, you should soak it before planting, it will take time to look any good, but it's an affordable way to get a tree.

I'll raise you a chandelier thrown over the back gate. And yes, it was in more pieces than it was supposed to be Grin

Here is my twig looking very bare in my little urban garden. Should he come indoors? If any of you have any bright ideas on what I can plant on my fire escape to make it look like it’s in hipster Brooklyn I’d appreciate it

No he'll be okay out there. Just make sure he's well formed in and watered. You'll have a wait before he does much.

well, it seems to be giving two fingers to yodel..

My Dad loves buying twigs like that and always has a lovely garden, although quite twiggy in the winter. So it's probably not been a waste of money. Have faith in the twig!

It'll be a while before he can say "I am Groot" though.
