I'm sat in a&e after stupidly pulling the corner of my car boot on to my head. Feels like I've been hit by a bag of hammers, I am concussed. I called DH, he wasn't picking up as he was at work but after calling DM she called his work and he came to get me and get me seen. Infant DC had done a massive blow out in the process so he changed her when he got there but in haste to get me to the hospital he knocked her head getting out of the car to put her into her seat.

We have come to the hospital and I have told them about her too, she was due a nap so after screaming and comfort feed she fell asleep straight away.

We have explained to everyone what has happened. I am a wombat who was in a hurry to take LO to a class, DH is also a wombat for not being more careful but I am so scared at what could be said or done because of this. Does anyone know what protocol is? Am I right in thinking SS will be alerted and an investigation done? I'm not worried about an investigation, LO is happy and hitting milestones but I just want to be mentally prepared for it.

Try not to worry, they might seem all gungho with the questions and whatnot, but they're unlikely to do an investigation over a bumped head.

We had an incident when DD was 4 whereby she fell awkwardly and landed on the edge of her own shoe, which cut her private parts. I took her to A&E as I was worried about infection and it getting worse. We were grilled by the Drs and DD was interviewed by them without us there (she proceeded to tell them she'd fallen over "drunk" and they genuinely seemed concerned she'd been drinking alcohol till she told them it was vimto) I was sure they'd call SS who'd haul DD away but then the Gynae Drs came to see DD and confirmed that its a very VERY common injury in little girls and to just keep an eye on her. I still get dirty looks from the A&E Consultant (he's the safeguarding children's lead) and I work at the same NHS Trust....

Try not to worry, I hope you are all ok!!

If it's a first and only incident then no SS involvement or report. If you repeatedly present with DD having various 'accidents then yes at some point AS would be notified so relax and fingers crossed DH doesn't make it 3s a charm.

Thank you. We're both OK but I do expect a visit. I went to the GP only this week to follow up on a conversation with the HV when LO was about 6 weeks where I was concerned about limbs clicking. HV told me to speak to GP, the GP surgery told me to go to a&e with LO for something else and it was mentioned to an a&e dr who didn't seem to bothered and said hips would be checked at 6-8 week check. No issues noted with LO at check but it was very quick and around that time I was told by a LC that it was pretty normal. I felt at nearly 6 months, LO shouldn't still be like it so mentioned it to GP this week and they wanted it checked out. I have no idea if previous conversations with HV were noted down (HV was too busy telling me my baby was hungry and scrutinising whilst completely missing a tongue tie) or a&e dr about the limbs but the three things this week look suspicious from the outside, I'm sure, and l would understand a referral if a&e made one.

Does anyone know what happens with referrals? I guess my concern is I have read really horrible things about babies being removed from parents in unfair circumstances of late so want to know what to expect/what is the process?
