To think that MN needs to stop deleting threads “because of privacy concerns”?

When actually the reason most deletions are called for is because the OP isn’t getting the answer they want.

MN is a public platform. If you post here there is a chance that someone might read it and recognise themselves in your postings. But unless it’s genuinely a huge issue involving say, child abuse or legal issues which could prejudice a trial for instance the fact they’ve already recognised your post means they already know you’ve written about them and the privacy concerns are no longer an issue are they?

And all to often it happens that an OP posts a thread, gets a unanimous response that they’re not being reasonable, and voila, the thread gets deleted “because of privacy concerns.” Hmm can’t MN just post in the T&C that posting on a public internet forum automatically means you’re not posting in a private club, and that you’re aware of that prior to posting?

The constant removal of threads for alleged privacy reasons is ridiculous.

It’s not that difficult to access cached pages if you know how and I’m not that techs. Moral of the story, kids; don’t put anything on the internet that is identifiable if there’s even the tiniest chance that you’ll regret.

Um it does.
Once deleted off mumsnet, then you can’t find that thread again.
So how else would you find it on the internet unless it has appeared on the Mail?

That's very naive.

Why was there a backlash against Toby Young if he deleted over 20,000 tweets? How did they get unearthed if he deleted them? Answer: He posted them on the Internet. Think of the Internet like Herpes. You can get rid of as much as you want but it will always come back.....
