Help please.

Would the standard Microsoft office be adequate for a teen or should we do the upgraded yrly subscription?

standard would be more than good enough IMHO. You know you can get discounted MS s/w at Software4students?

Check if they can get student licence (usually if the college/school offers a .ac.uk address for their students)

Otherwise look for office 365 and it can be as little as £7 a month.

I would try Libreoffice first - it's completely free, works the same as office and you can open and save documents, spreadsheets etc in Office compatible formats. I downloaded it as an experiment years ago and have never looked back!

Another vote for http://www.software4students.co.uk

It's really helpful to have real experience of Microsoft Office. I'm not saying its great, but is is pretty ubiquitous, so very good to have on a CV.

Standard would be fine. Once you can use it you can use it really, and generally the changes between versions are fine.

At least of you buy it outright you can use it for as long as you have a PC that will run it.

Are you absolutely sure you need it? Apache Open Office is compatible with Office files, and its free.

There's also Google Docs. There is lots of great free software out there, but generally employers will want experience with Microsoft Office.

Ebay will get you a licence for under £10 for the full package

DeadDoorpost · 01/02/2018 00:04

I signed up with them with my uni email and got Microsoft office free. Might be worth looking into.
