No! You rarely need extra water, especially if you have used tinned tomatoes. The liquid does not really evaporate!

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/01/2018 14:49

No, you don't need water, I rarely put water in at all.

Troels · 31/01/2018 15:09

Water isn't needed. I make baked potatoes in mine, wrap big potatoes seperatly in foil and leave them on all day.
Meatloaf too, the kids said it looked like a brain when done, but tasted good

tellitermine · 31/01/2018 15:10

Phew!! Thank God for that!!

I once tried to do sausage casserole and forgot water. Slow cooker had to be thrown. Didn't know most foods needed water in slow cookers

Wolfiefan · 31/01/2018 16:49

Depends on exactly what has gone in. One of my slow cookers would crack without some kind of liquid.

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/01/2018 21:19

What did you put in it Orange?
Wolfie how do you know?
Not trying to be obtuse but I'm genuinely curious.

HeyRoly · 31/01/2018 21:20

Slow cookers are sealed and so the contents don't reduce (because steam can't get out). It's really quite difficult to burn things Smile

HeyRoly · 31/01/2018 21:21

That's not to say I cook things dry though! But most of the things I do are liquidity anyway - stews, casseroles, chilli, bolognese etc.

I rarely add water to the slow cooker
