To ask for your remedies for bloating

Posting here for traffic.

I get married in a few months and am working my butt off to get slimmer. My dress is rather unforgiving! For years I've struggled with bloating and I've never really been able to pinpoint the foods responsible for it, sometimes it just comes out of nowhere and I haven't even eaten anything!

So my concern is that on the day, even though I'll have spent months working hard in the gym, my body could decide to mimic a nice space hopper and there will be nothing I can do about it. The wedding is abroad in an all inclusive resort (relevant because of available food to eat) and it's at 3pm so not eating isn't an option either.

Do any of you mumsnetters have miracle cures for bloating when it happens? I'd like to be as prepared as possible should it happen! I'll be taking a stock of peppermint tea, but I'm literally open to anything!

Thank you

You need to work out what changes on day of bloating - is it linked to your cycle? Although frustrating once every 4-6 weeks is wayyyy better than 2-3 times per week :)

I get awful bloating and recently did a low-carb diet for my rosacea which had the side effect of stopping the bloating and pains completely.

The problem for me was that I felt really fatigued while exercising (running) so I've gone back on carbs now. I'm experimenting and trying to find a happy medium because those pain- and wind-free months were bliss.

Completely agree pooh having changed my diet over the past year or so I've noticed a massive decrease and I can definitely cope with how rarely it happens now but there literally seems to be no link whatsoever as to when it happens! It completely baffles me. No link to my cycle, with the body coach I've had the same meals at the same time for the past 4 weeks and last week I bloated out of nowhere at work! I'm sure it will happen before we fly out for the wedding so I'll get an opportunity to try out everyone's remedies. Not gonna lie, I'm nervous about the wind tablets...my mum tried them once and apparently woke her boyfriend up in the night due to how quickly and erm...loudly...they worked Grin Grin

prosecco does for me. My sister saw a nutritionist who said to try gluten free, I was sceptical but she said it helped. Now I had given up pasta because of bloat so I bought some gluten free. Hallelujah I can now eat pasta. I also know wheat, yeast, sugar sets me off. There is sugar in a lot of tinned foods I found. Rice I am fine with.
