To wonder if you call it dusty pink or dusky pink?

My DSis is getting married this year.
I've been looking online for bridemaids dresses. I was under the impression the shade I was looking for was called dusky pink, but I'm not getting many hits and eBay wants to correct it to dusty pink.
When I do this, there's also lots of the same shade of pink dresses.
Which is it?
What do you call it? Because now I'm just confused.

To wonder if you call it dusty pink or dusky pink?

Dusky

Dusty sounds dirty

thecatfromjapan · 29/01/2018 06:41

'Pack lunch'.

splendide · 29/01/2018 06:44

Oh god I’ve always said dusty which
I’m suddenly realising is obviously wrong!

ReelingLush18 · 29/01/2018 06:44

Dusky for sure.

iBiscuit · 29/01/2018 06:55

Another one here who immediately thought of Meggie's dress Grin

Fancyacuppaluv · 29/01/2018 06:55

Yep I've always called it dusky pink too.

Mallorie · 29/01/2018 06:55

A vote for dusty here (but I am originally from America if that explains it). Not because dust is pink, but because it's a shade of pink that's sort of dull and gray-ish as if it has dust on it.
Dusky (and ashes of roses) both make me cringe a little, they just sound cheesy. Plus 'dusky' is just an ugly word to me as it has, in some cases, racist overtones (think 'the exotic dusky maiden').

I say dusky but I bet eBay is changing it for people listing it.

My work involves translation of fashion products and I've seen these colours written as the equivalent of 'dusty', probably inspired by the American version.

gamerwidow · 29/01/2018 07:09

Dusky pink eBay listings are probably affected by ‘chester drawers’ type listings

Khaleesi0 · 29/01/2018 07:19

It's always been dusky pink to me, I've never heard of it referred to as dusty pink...!

PenelopeFlintstone · 29/01/2018 07:29

I've got an always very clean friend who always says her house/car/towel/whatever smells musky, instead of musty. Shock

thelastredwinegum · 29/01/2018 07:32

Dusky.

blueshoes · 29/01/2018 07:38

I have never really thought about it but now that you mentioned the difference , I am inclined towards dusty, like the pink desert dust.

dancinfeet · 29/01/2018 07:38

Dusky Pink or Dusty Rose. Not Dusty Pink!!

TheWernethWife · 29/01/2018 16:31

Dusty pink for me, I'm a northern Bird and over 60.

Zintox · 29/01/2018 16:43

Dusky.
But yes it's one of those misheard things like diamonte when it should be diamanté.

HRHRoyalGala · 29/01/2018 16:45

Dusky.

TrinitySquirrel · 29/01/2018 16:52

Dusky.

What dickhead calls it dusty? The same type that says 'aks' instead of 'ask'.

lilyheather1 · 29/01/2018 16:58

sorry, I know this colour as dusty! BUT more and more formal dress companies are also describing it as blush pink, so you may have some luck searching for that colour too :)

Trills · 29/01/2018 17:05

Who would think that "dusty pink" sounds nice? Dust is not nice. Dusk is nice.

I would expect dusky pink to have a bit more grey in it than the picture you've posted.

ChristmasCakes · 29/01/2018 17:06

I call it dusky. Because it is dusky.
