Posting in here for traffic.

Just wondering what you do for skincare? I have recently come out in untold spots and need to get rid and have my clear skin back.

What works for you?

Wash with soap and water. Never moisturised until menopause
Skin a little oily when younger. May be a spot max 2 at a time on monthly basis until about 20yo

I have spot prone skin and have struggled to find something that helps. My friend gave me some of her Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser to use and it's made so much difference! Now I cleanse tone and moisturise (all Liz Earle) morning and night. I also use heliocare 360 factor 50 in the morning before make up. I find that the moisturiser is more important to get right for me as I have oily/combination skin. If I use anything too heavy then it isn't long before my skin breaks out again.

Clinque soap bar and moisturiser from 20-52. I used water to tone when younger but started using their toner 15 years ago. Initially the clarifying lotion 1 now no 2. Always used no 2 soap bar and the dram difference moisturiser. If I used anything different I used to get spots. I only use the soap at night, just splash with water then clarify and moisturise on a morning

Other than the absolute no-nos (make up removal wipes, harsh exfoliators with 'bits', using soaps on your face etc) skincare is so personal that I'm not sure knowing other people's routine is that helpful, unless their skin is very similar to yours. But here is mine! I love skincare and spent a lot of time perfecting my regime. A few of the products are expensive but mostly you use so little that they last forever, and it means my skin is so good that I don't have to wear much make-up so save money that way.

I have sensitive skin which can be dry around my forehead and nose but I (used to be) prone to spots around my mouth and jawline until
I got my regime sorted. Now I very rarely get spots and if I do they're hormonal and disappear quickly.

Morning:

  • Cleanse with micellar water and cotton pads
  • Cleanse with a milk cleanser - clean flannel every day - this is so important! (Most would do oil cleansing here but I'm yet to find an oil cleanser that works for me)
  • Rosewater toner if I'm feeling a bit flushed
  • Buffet serum from The Ordinary
  • Effeclar serum from La Roche Posay - this is a miracle product! Keeps my skin totally clear
  • Moisturise with a good Alpha H daytime moisturiser with SPF - I like Eucerin's
  • Eye serum - another La Roche Posay here for me, Hydrophase
  • In summer I'd use an SPF primer too

Evening:

  • Cleanse with micellar water and cotton pads
  • Exfoliate every three days or so with a gentle exfoliator - I like Cure Natural Aqua gel
  • Cleanse in the shower with a leave-on milk cleanser
  • Every second day I use Alpha H Liquid Gold and don't put anything else on - on the other day I use a good night time serum (currently the Eucerin Hyaluron Anti-Age one) and a good night cream - thicker and richer in winter, lighter in summer
  • Eye cream - the Nivea one is a good budget option

Once a week I use a Korean snail sheet mask and every two weeks or so a sailcylic acid (just from The Ordinary) on my nose and chin to prevent blackheads.

AM: (at the moment) REN gel face wash, Pixi glow tonic, hydration spray, Botanics under eye cream, serum, Garner rose moisturiser.

PM: makeup wipe (to get rid of the worst), Clinique eye makeup remover, Clinique cleansing balm, REN cream face wash, under eye cream, serum, Kiehls midnight recovery oil.

This routine completely cleared up my acne and my skin has never looked better!!
