To ask for a round-up of personal experience with 3rd births?

Dc1 born vaginally on due date. Dc2 born vaginally two weeks early. Am needing to organise a last board meeting before end of tax year and the most suitable dates are all either exactly one week or exactly two weeks before EDD of dc3, or exactly one week after. I don't mind working on this thing either immediately before or immediately after birth (although it would be nicer not to immediately after what with all the post-birth bleeding and sore boobs), so that's not a real issue. I would just like to hedge my bets to try and organise it and be there. If there are complications someone else can and will take over so again, it's fine if that happens. I would just like to hear from personal experience so I can mull over some rough stats, whether your third arrived before EDD and by how much, on their EDD, or after the EDD? Want to figure out if my Dc3 is likely to arrive on cue, more likely also a couple of weeks earlier like Dc2 or maybe even three or four weeks earlier (!), or maybe after the EDD. I've heard the latter anecdotally which is why I'm a bit stuck on making a decision. I know it is not an exact science (and midwives always say second (and third?) babies can come early or have shorter labours), but if we assume healthy pregnancies and babies and births on all counts, was my dc2 being early a fluke, or is this a trend likely to continue with Dc3? TIA!

I don't think your baby knows or cares much about board meetings! It'll come when it's ready.

ErskineMay · 28/01/2018 09:32

No pattern here at all.
Dc1 - 39 weeks
Dc2 - 41 weeks
Dc3 - 40+1
Dc4 - 38+ 4

junebirthdaygirl · 28/01/2018 09:33

My first 2 came 2 weeks early. My third exactly on the day he was due. He has always been obliging and no hassle since exactly as he started. But l wouldn't plan my life on this information.

Justanotherzombie · 28/01/2018 09:34

Urgh, impossible to know! My 3rd was on her due date after 1 being a week early and 2 being a week late. Book the board meeting in for 2 weeks before as statistically that's least likely.

LinoleumBlownapart · 28/01/2018 09:36

1 - 40 weeks -12 hours
2 - 40+6 - 5 hours
3 - 39+5 - 2 hours
4 - 40 - 5 hours

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 28/01/2018 09:36

All 3 of my DC were early-around 10 days.

I must admit the meeting sounds ambitious but if you want to plan I'd do it as early as possible and then be done...

hopefully you get a bit of a break then?

fleshmarketclose · 28/01/2018 09:44

Dc1 37 weeks 12 hours
Dc2 on due date ELCS
Dc3 term plus 9 8 hours

ILikTheBred · 28/01/2018 09:44

DC1 - 40+5
DC2 - 38+5
DC3 - 38+4

I would take the date two weeks before your EDD if I were you.

Bananmanfan · 28/01/2018 09:46

Dc1 40+5
Dc2 41 exactly
DC3 39+3
I would go with 2 weeks before EDD & hope for the best.

PotteringAlong · 28/01/2018 09:48

1 - 40+14
2 - 40+12
3 - 40+13

The third was quicker though!

Abracadabraapileofbollocks · 28/01/2018 09:48

1st and 2nd two weeks early. 3rd 1 week early . Exactly.
I think your own history is your best to work with.

starts inputting chart data
Yes, I'm a nerd.

I am leaning towards 2 weeks before as some PP suggested, but for various reasons one week before or after would be better. But two weeks is probably the best bet. We also have the option of doing it on the EDD, but even I am not that foolish! Grin unless...

Neolara · 28/01/2018 09:50

First two were 3 weeks early. Number 3 was a few days early. Number 3 was quick.

Gunpowder · 28/01/2018 09:51

DC1 - 40+2
DC2 - 40+3
DC3&4- 37+1

I’d go for two weeks before EDD too.

theymademejoin · 28/01/2018 10:10

Two weeks early, 10 days early and 1 week early. So they got later with each one.

I don't think you're likely to get enough replies to do stats though 😁

PoodleJ · 28/01/2018 10:14

You can't actually be in work for 2 weeks after giving birth. I suggest that you try for the earliest date possible.

user1485182339 · 28/01/2018 10:27

they you are totally right. I'm still doing it though. I'll delete the spreadsheet afterwards to cover my tracks and retain my integrity! Grin
I'm now wondering if I should just organise for the EDD instead? I'm sure most babies don't actually get born on their due date, so perhaps I've been approaching the whole thing from the wrong angle? If dc2 being early wasn't a fluke, but part of an incubation pattern likely to continue (am I clutching at straws?), then maybe I should hedge bets on an early birth, and can then do the meeting on EDD?

poodle I don't really mind if I was feeling up to it, and I was in okay shape after the first two so hopefully I will be again. I really won't do it if there were issues and certainly nobody would expect me to be there at all. Since i can pick the date I just thought I'd make sure I can give myself the best chance Of being there.

Dc1 - 39 + 3, but induced due to pre-eclampsia

Dc2 - 41 + 5, induced as overdue

Dc3 - 39 + 6, but again induced due to possible pre-eclampsia

If it hadn't been for the pre-eclampsia I think all of them would have been late.

MagicWillHappen · 28/01/2018 10:34

I think Poodle means that you can't legally work for two weeks after giving birth op, if employed. Feeling up to it isn't the issue.

MissDuke · 28/01/2018 10:35

It is well known that third babies 'do their own thing' Grin

DC1 was evicted at 42 weeks, DC2 40+5, DC3 38+6

Good luck!

Readermumof3 · 28/01/2018 10:38

DC3 was the latest of all my dcs, almost 2 weeks according to the medics blessed dates but I don't think so. They were also heaviest by over a lb more than dc 2...that was definitely a pattern as dc1 was 7lb and dc3 was almost 10lb. Their actual birth was the easiest and less stressful, maybe because the hospital was heaving that night and as 3rd timers DH and I were left well alone most of the time to just get on with it.

Notanotheruser111 · 28/01/2018 10:38

41 weeks
39 weeks
Original EDD exactly

user1485182339 · 28/01/2018 10:42

magic I see. Doubt they will throw me out though? I'd still have my voting rights etc whether or not I do it in person or from home, unless I appointed a proxy. Also, the biscuits!!! Grin

reader you're right. I think the hospital is out by a few days anyway, but they just apply this 2 week average thing even if you can tell them (fairly) accurately when you think you ovulated. But if the baby was that much heavier I guess it is more likely it was growing for a bit longer?

Dc1&2 were smallish. I don't relish having a big baby. Hmm

changes chart input colours
