Man cannot live on custard alone

DS is trying to prove me wrong. He's teething. Only foods being consumed are custard, toast and puffs (baby crisps Confused). Nothing I can do is there, but wait it out?

I think he's got all food groups covered, there!

Will he eat any fruit?

MyBrilliantDisguise · 27/01/2018 18:24

Ice cream if his gums are hurting him?

KatnissMellark · 27/01/2018 18:25

I purées some raspberries and added some porridge oats to his custard. Turned him off a bit, but some went down.

Oh good idea disguise, he's allergic to dairy though so will have to hunt out an alternative.

If you google non-dairy ice creams, some Ben & Jerrys are there.

tshirtsuntan · 27/01/2018 18:28

Try the Swedish glace` ice cream, dairy free and delicious!

BrutusMcDogface · 27/01/2018 18:29

Freeze bananas and strawberries, then blitz them and you have ice cream! He might not like the seeds in the strawbs but in that case, just banana would work!

missyB1 · 27/01/2018 18:29

God I love custard, reckon I could live on it! Sorry that’s not much help I know Blush

KatnissMellark · 27/01/2018 18:30

Ah great tips, thanks everyone! Wasn't expecting that from AIBU!

home made ice cream. Made the same way the custard is. Ice cream is basically frozen custard.

KatnissMellark · 27/01/2018 18:43

I use a ready made vegan custard as DS is allergic to milk and egg, wonder if it's freeze well...

I'm pretty sure DH would live on custard, given half a chance!

Refrigerated banana helps when DS2 is teething. Literally peel it, stick it in a food bag/Tupperware and in the fridge for about 30 mins, it comes out nice and cold and firm enough to really chew on.

thepatchworkcat · 27/01/2018 18:44

Aldi do some vegan non dairy ice creams now, made of coconut milk

Dazedandconfuzzled · 27/01/2018 18:45

I love custard so I would be willing to try and live off it

DesignedForLife · 27/01/2018 18:46

Yes you can freeze custard, just mix it up part way in as it's beginning to freeze.

DS has decided it's yogurt or blueberries or nothing. I assume teething as he didn't want to get to bed unless cuddled last night.

Definitely going to try frozen banana! He can't get enough of them normally so maybe he'll take to that

SmileEachDay · 27/01/2018 18:56

Frozen banana whizzed up with cocoa powder and almond milk pretty much kept me alive when I was pregnant...it’s like a very thick milkshake...

CrabappleBiscuit · 27/01/2018 18:59

I spent from about age six to eight eating mostly white bread and Brie..or custard. Tbh mostly custard.

I now eat pretty much anything, love food and am a good cook. Don’t despair. I’m fifty and fine!

forgottenusername · 27/01/2018 19:20

dd1 realised (aged about 15!) than tins of Morrisons value custard were cheaper than bottled water, so she used to drink custard through a straw when she was thirsty!

deptfordgirl · 27/01/2018 19:23

My ds loves those yoghurt suckies when teething. They have dairy free ones made from coconut milk, called coconutters I think.

TheDevilMadeMeDoIt · 27/01/2018 19:51

Man cannot live on custard alone

DP would be very much up for the challenge of proving you wrong!
