Having been at the mercy of 111 I just wondered how necessary it is to see a dr with really painful earache and constant bloody discharge. Or should I suffer until Monday when I can see my own dr?

Good that you didn't leave it till Monday, earache is miserable, hope you get some sleepBear

I've had this in both ears.

The relief that comes with a perforation (and all the yucky discharges too) is unreal.

Perforated ear drums will heal themselves, but may leave a slight opening. You will never suffer from in flight ear problems again.

Antibiotics are not generally required either, unless the discharge is tested for non viral bugs. Rarely is.

Trust me. These types of ear infections are very common and rarely are dangerous. V Painful yes.
