To chase Cursed Child tickets for a 10 year old?

I am taking my daughter to the Harry Potter studios soon. Big birthday treat. It is a major deal as it involves long train journey and two nights in a hotel.
The available Cursed Child tickets are out of my price range and I am going to try the Friday 40.
If you have seen it, Is it worth it? Would a Harry Potter obsessed 10 year old enjoy it?

Ooh, that sounds like an excellent trip.

I don't know what the Friday 40 is.

But I have seen the Cursed Child. Loved it. Saw it with 2 x 15 yr olds who have loved HP since they were in Yr 1 and they adored it.

If your 10 yr old is a genuine HP fan, and knows all the books/films, then I don't think they'd find the show disturbing and it's got some great magic in it.

I hope you enjoy your weekend/birthday treat.

Has she read the play?
I personally didn’t enjoy it at all and found it really dark - I was so glad I didn’t chase tickets as I don’t think I would have enjoyed it!

Thank you, she has the gown, hat, scarf and wand. AND it is a surprise.

Why would you read a play you're potentially going to watch???

It is dark in places, but so are the books.

OP, do you know that Cursed Child is in two parts, so you basically have to go to the theatre twice and therefore buy two sets of tickets?

To be honest, I would do Studios + hotel as birthday treat and do Cursed Child (both parts) on a separate occasion. She would probably get more out of it aged 11 or 12 or beyond.
My Dsis's friend is an actor in Cursed Child - my Dsis saw it when it first opened and she thinks it's definitely worth it, but it does take up a whole day or two evenings.

Sorry xpost. Yes she has read the book and liked it. Do they really have a live owl flying around the theatre?

We only have time for Part 1.

You know there's more than one book, right?

Don't ask for spoilers.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 25/01/2018 23:05

No, sorry. You do need to see both. Maybe not on the same day, but you definitely do. Part 1 is only 1/2 the story

We saw matinee (part 1) and then evening for the second part.

Paleninteresting · 25/01/2018 23:07

That’s really helpful to know about seeing both parts at a similar time.
I will have to find a treat for the Saturday evening.

There is no point going if you will only see one part sorry that would be very disappointing and frustrating! You will have a lovely time at the studios leave it at that if she's still a fan look into tickets for both parts at a later time

Anyone know of a funky child friendly place to eat in Watford.
