Aibu to spend money on myself?

I'm in two minds what to do.
I won £600 on hot picks.
I never ever win anything.
I don't know whether to use this and treat myself to some new clothes/spa day or buy things for the house.
Everything I have is second hand.
Maybe it would be nice to buy a new cooker and fridge.
Not expensive ones just basic.
What would you do?

Good grief buy yourself a cooker - the most basic one Currys have is about £150, leaving you £450 to save/spend if you can't bear to spend more than that on one.

A cooker £250
A treat £100
A little stash for a rainy day £150

Try to find somewhere locally that does catalogue rejects (brand new but may have a slight dint somewhere) as I got my White goods for 1/3 of the normal price and the dints don't show once they're installed between the units (I found a warehouse selling them via eBay. They had 6 month guarantees). Then you can buy both AND have money left to treat yourself. (Although I bet the cooker itself would be like a treat anyway!)

In your situation I’d...

Buy a cooker & put the rest in savings.

I’d only buy clothes etc if I was replacing an item that I wore regularly that had worn out & I really needed it.

There’s not a cat in hells chance I’d spend it on a Spa Day or anything else frivolous, not when money is so tight.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 25/01/2018 22:50

Spa money would be a complete waste. Buy an emery board, some cuticle cream and some nail varnish and body cream and you're done!

YellowMakesMeSmile · 25/01/2018 22:52

There's no way I'd be spending on a spa day or shopping spree when money is so tight but then neither would I have been wasting money gambling in the first place.

I'd buy a cheap new cooker and fridge and put the rest in savings.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 25/01/2018 22:53

PS: I know that sounds joyless, but I’d just far rather have a little bit of cash in the bank for emergencies, that would make ME happier than any treat/indulgence.

A cooker! And a nice lipstick. Save the rest.

NeverTwerkNaked · 25/01/2018 23:54

Split it!
£400 on cooler & fridge. £100 put by for savings. £100 spend on yourself - a couple of decent bits of clothing you need plus a couple of frivolous bits (nail polish, a necklace, whatever will make you smile when you use them) Smile

Well done on the win!
