Are all window cleaners hard work?

We seem to have no luck with window cleaners, over the course of ten years two have vanished after being paid in advance for a few months (my own fault for doing this I know but I was never in when they came)
Then we had one that just came as and when he felt like which was sometimes months on end before he came. Then the current one swore blind a few weeks ago that we ( us and next door) owed for 2 cleans and not one (we were both certain we didn't) so we paid and then he arrived yesterday to clean again when not due for another 10 days.
Is this just the way it goes with window cleaners?

Ours is brilliant and cheap. Comes every four weeks ish and we just leave the money on an upstairs windowsill as do all our neighbours.

Nope. Had no luck. Got embroiled in some sort of turf war with one, where a guy was meant to be canvassing and drumming up new business for him, except apparently the guy was “selling” me as a new customer to two separate window cleaners and I couldn’t figure out how one of them got my mobile or why he was so irate with me when I asked why he’s telling me he’s coming end of week when I had just agreed with my new cleaner day before he’s to come again in a forthright.

One was very professional and great and told me he’d invoice me once he completed the job and to please pay it within 3-4 days. Except his “invoice” was to send me 4 texts within a few hours demanding immediate bank transfer. Of course I was in bloody meetings and couldn’t check my phone until I received all of his irate demands. Called him and asked whether I can drop off cash to him as I won’t be able to do a bank transfer until end of the day. Oh no.. it’s not urgent, don’t worry about it. The fuck?!

I think for a nosy parker it's an interesting job. They probably see all sorts. Honeymooning couples, blushing brides, talkie queens etc

Mine is absolutely brilliant. I forgot to leave the gate open a few months ago, fully expected to pay the full rate as it was obviously my fault he couldn’t get round the back. He insisted I only owed him half and we argued for a bit on the doorstep about it! Lovely bloke, professional, reliable and does a great job. I just wish he’d a wave a magic wand and tackle the sticky fingerprints on the inside too!

My window cleaner comes once a month. I leave the money on the upper window sill, which means he takes it when he cleans the Windows.

Ours comes every 6 weeks, he travels over 50 miles to do this round and charges a fortune! However he's been doing them for years, is a lovely bloke and it saves us cleaning them.

I love my mum’s window cleaner. He comes around every 5 weeks and brightens up her day with banter. He gave her a cwtch after my dad died. Fantastic manner with his elderly clients and charges just £3 for her terraced front. No issues with mine either, comes around every 5 weeks and cleans all round. If I’m out, he’s happy for me to pay double next time. A lot come and go but I think the good ones stick around.
