Had an attendance letter from school, it's our second one and they want us to go in and talk to them to see if they can help in anyway, they may have to report us, we may be fined etc etc

What a lovely update. Thanks OP. Good luck with the coughs and colds.

Rudeolf · 25/01/2018 13:25

You can also ask if they have a facility to keep him inside on really cold days, instead of going out to play & run about.

School kept my DD in at that age, whilst she was recovering from an Illness.

Tell them there is a special register mark for under CSA- code X

People make this up as the they go along. MIS is encoded by the school - us uses X for absence and U for unauthorised.

'special register marks' indeed.

Nope - ohthelights is correct. In England and Wales at least, the SIMs code for "Non-compulsory school age absence is indeed, X.

Don't worry about it.

Go in and speak to them, don't be all guns blazing and all defensive.

My DS is 6 and is in primary 2 he has severe asthma and is off with EVERY cold ect he gets because he physically can't breathe.

The School didn't realise how bad he is until I told them he has steroid and inhalers ect to help manage him.

So just explain and maybe it will let them ease up on you as they may just not know how ill he actually is and once you bring it to their attention they should understand.

Newyearnewme

It's not made up. There is a special register mark for children under CSA. That's why schools allow children to do reception part time and it doesn't affect their figures.

Ds has asthma. This results in when he has a cough he can sometimes be sick. Ive explained this many times and they still insist on him not returning to school. Tbf its gotten better since he was diagnosed. Im interested to see if I'll get an attendence letter!

SmartyPants0 · 29/01/2018 22:41

Before the children are on roll at the school they get an x... once they are on roll and attending the letter changes depending if they are ill I -that should be a capital an O for Unauthorised ie you didn't ring the school to give a reason or L for late and U for very late C for circumstances
V for school trips... I could go on ☺
