just that really, I read one comment in a Welsh accent, followed by London etc I go round the UK, Sometimes I even throw in a South African, American or Australian, it makes reading more fun

I read a thread once where someone mentioned all the user names sound like race horses. So now I sometimes read them in a racing-commentator's voice. Grin

Otherwise they all speak RP like me. Except when English isn't their first language.

Thistlebelle · 24/01/2018 22:58

I’m always wide eyed at the baby name threads when people discuss pronunciations and you southerners either ignore Rs completely or add them in randomly.

It’s hysterical.

HildaZelda · 24/01/2018 23:08

I'm intrigued now @thenettyprofessor. What accent are you reading my comment in? Where do you think I might be from?

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 23:35

thistlebelle is southerners? Really!

Ffs what is it with threads as the minute where people can't grasp regional differences in pronounciation?

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 23:35

*us

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 23:36

Anyway, like a PP, I read in My accent, RP.

geekymommy · 24/01/2018 23:41

I’m American, if you want to read my posts in an authentic accent.

Thistlebelle · 24/01/2018 23:43

Grilled I can absolutely grasp regional differences. Hmm Grin

I just think the things RP accents do with Rs are funny. Wink

IHeartKingThistle · 24/01/2018 23:43

RP is the Queen's accent. Is that really your accent, you two? It's used by a vanishingly small percentage of people these days. Just saying.

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 23:46

Yes, it is. But actually if you listen to the Queen from broadcasts old and new, you'll see it has changed slightly, even for her, as the Queen. It's quite "usual" to hear RP where I am.

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 23:46

I am laughing that you explained my own accentvto me though😂

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 23:47

Argh *accent to

Bostin · 24/01/2018 23:47

Hey up duck.

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 23:49

Bostin I have no real idea but I'd have a stab and say Lancashire or Estuary.

How many hundreds of miles out am I?Grin

AlrightBabby · 24/01/2018 23:52

You can tell from my user name where I'm from, complete with a thick comedy accent. Nobody can say the place names round here without putting on the accent.

Buuuuurmingum
Wulver-ramptun

AlrightBabby · 24/01/2018 23:53

Bostin - Stoke?

Alisvolatpropiis · 24/01/2018 23:54

What accents do you read my posts in?

AlrightBabby · 24/01/2018 23:55

Although 'bostin' is a proper Black Country word - hmmm!

NeedsAsockamnesty · 24/01/2018 23:55

I have a blocked up nose at the mo if you want to read mine in a sort of bunged up voice

Bostin · 24/01/2018 23:57

Alright bab

DreamyMcDreamy · 24/01/2018 23:59

I'm interested to know what accent I'm read in too. Grin
Imagine Kryten Spare Head 3 in Red Dwarf. Bout sums my accent up lol

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 23:59

I was hundreds of miles out then -Bostin !

AlrightBabby · 25/01/2018 00:04

Yow alright cocka?

IHeartKingThistle · 25/01/2018 00:06

I wasn't explaining it to you aubergines - I don't know what you sound like! I don't know anyone who talks like the Queen! I just know that lots of people use that term incorrectly.

IAmSamSamlAm · 25/01/2018 00:07

Don't think I'll ever stop doing the racing commentator username thing now HmmGrin
