To use online estate agents?

Continuing the saga of our house selling, I wonder if it was wrong of us to assume that people would NOT be put off going through an online estate agents if they wished to view our home?

We are not getting any interest and I have already had some bruising comments on another board regarding the presentation and pricing of this house. But someone did mention that aspect, so could it be a significant problem do you think?

Apologies for the delay in looking in here again. Thanks to all for responding. I can appreciate that some people may not be keen on the remote management aspect but so far the viewers we have had seemed happy with the arrangements. Though of course, that is a self-selecting group and I don't know how many have been put off and would otherwise have looked.

In another tread on this topic, I had opinions on the presentation and first impressions of our property from which I have learnt that maybe this house would not sell itself so the option of calling in a high street agent is still an option if things don't move more briskly. As said above, in a hot property market in a hot area then online EA would work without a doubt.

We sold via a high street estate agent practically before the house went on right move etc- we had several viewings booked in for the weekend it went live, as the estate agents had contacted people that they knew were looking for the kind of house we were selling.

We also felt the photos and descriptions were better than similar properties we've seen selling through online estate agents- presumably the sellers did that themselves and it showed.

It wouldn't put us off buying through an online agent, if the right house came up, but I wouldn't sell through one.

It would maybe slightly put me off as a buyer as I might assume you're using the cheapest estate agency option because you're tight/skint.

If I like a house n the price was right, I couldn't care less if the seller was tight/skint. Not sure what that has to do with anything.

When we were looking for houses we also noticed that Purple Bricks definitely overvalued house prices so I would definitely agree about that! Their properties would come up on the market again and again and again. We were saying they must be haunted Grin We did however view a lovely house in excellent decorative order which was being sold by the House Network. We found it easy to talk and see how offers were going but for other reasons we didn't buy it. There were many families viewing it before and after our appointment with the sellers.

TBH I like the fact that OEA use many photos which helps and looks more professional although it is the buyer who does all this work, isn't it? Also I hated the fact that Purple Bricks never showed any metric measurements so I couldn't be bothered.
