Currently being tested for endometriosis finally have been for past 5 years but because I’m only 23 they keep saying my bad periods will pass. I’ve taken all the codine ibroprufen and tablets to help with the flow I can untill midnight when I can take some ibroprufen and then codine at 2 in the morning. I’m sat in the bath crying my eyes out in pain sweating as I need the bath so hot to help. My partners watching me to as I’m feeling so dizzy from the pain. I don’t no what to do I don’t want to waste time at a and e

Many/most A&Es are buckling under the strain at the moment. You are likely to wait many, many hours to be seen (you could try ringing first and seeing how long the wait is likely to be/how busy they are. If you're seeing a gynae tomorrow, I would wait and get them to prescribe some drugs for you.

clearsight · 22/01/2018 22:40

If you phone 111, they might get you an emergency GP appointment. A GP will be able to prescribe a stronger painkiller to get you through the night.

Seniorcitizen1 · 22/01/2018 22:44

FFS not this again. The clue is in the title ACCIDENT and EMERGENCY.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 22/01/2018 22:52

Poor thing 💐. I hope you can get it sorted.

Ditch the boyfriend. He’s not a keeper.

MagnaWiles · 22/01/2018 22:52

Try a Tens machine, it may help.

So sorry you are experiencing this pain, it must be very tough.

redavocado · 22/01/2018 22:53

Speaking as someone with endo and someone who waited ten years for a diagnosis, do not go to A&E. There's nothing they can do to help you and they're under so much pressure at the moment!

Keep pestering the GP for a referral instead.

Pickledonion24 · 22/01/2018 23:37

In bed with more codine so tired from crying have been sick due to the pain to but do t want to wait for hours in a and e when I could be asleep will see how I feel tomorrow and try ring doctors for stronger pain meds

@Pickledonion24 You shouldn't be taking ibuprofen at the same time as mefanamic acid as they're both NSAIDs - mefanamic acid is much better and stronger so you should take that throughout your period. I'm not saying you won't have any pain ever again but it's much better than ibuprofen and coedeine.

Hope you're feeling a little better this morning.

Crashbangwhatausername · 23/01/2018 06:48

But that much pain is an emergency, I would go if you can't bear anymore

Mabelface · 23/01/2018 07:05

Some may shout me down on this, but when my endo was really bad, I used to have a little smoke. It stopped the spasms and chilled me out to the point where i could uncurl and stop crying with pain. Worked better than any prescription painkiller. My long term management has been having the endo lasered off and a mirena coil fitted. I'm on my 3rd coil and have been period and pain free for 13 years.

Angrybird345 · 23/01/2018 07:05

Go to a&e!

Twoo · 23/01/2018 07:18

If you are in that level of pain (with anything) it warrants going to a&e. You need to be administered a therapeutic level of pain relief and perhaps be referred for a laporoscopy. That is the only procedure as far as I know that can diagnose the endometriosis condition.

Hope you find relief soon.

Fintress · 23/01/2018 07:26

If you have an appointment today push to be referred for a laparoscopy, as a PP said it is the only definitive way to diagnose endometriosis. I had one for a different reason and was told I had extensive endo. Fortunately it didn't cause me any pain but I had adhesions. The consultant told me you can have a tiny bit of endo and be in dreadful pain or have it extensively with literally no symptoms. He showed me photo's of mine which I'd rather not have seen.

intuition · 23/01/2018 07:26

Check the dose of mefanamic acid. I used to take a double dose at your age.

Also if you taking M acid and Ibuprofen, you may have pain from your stomach and period pain combined. It's a really bad combination.

Get some advice today from gynae. Good luck.

Pickledonion24 · 23/01/2018 08:39

Well I ran out of menefanamic acid on the first day and waiting for the doctors so I can get more I’ve obviously been over dosing each period

OP posts:
peachgreen · 23/01/2018 09:04

@Pickledonion24 Talk to the doctor about the dosage and get the strongest possible. I can't emphasise enough to start taking it before you're in any pain - I used to start at the tiniest niggle of any period and then took them every four hours religiously for at least seven days. It didn't completely cure the problem but it did really help and made it manageable whereas with ibuprofen and codeine I would have been totally incapacitated for days and often rocking on the floor in agony. My GP prescribed me 6 months' supply at a time so that was plenty.

Hope your GP is helpful and can also speed up your gynae referral.

Pickledonion24 · 24/01/2018 10:11

They’ve given me proper codine and a date for surgery they finally listened to me May of helped that I had cried couldn’t get a taxi I walked all the way There while feeling sick my hot sticky pads weren’t sticking she’s asked me how the pain was I had just taken some codine and it hadn’t helped the pain so I just cried she was so lovely I didn’t no what to do I was so embarrassed

OP posts:
PurplePoppySeed · 24/01/2018 21:47

I'm glad to hear they are doing surgery, it will at least get to the bottom of everything going on and they might be able to relieve the pain for a time Thanks

intuition · 24/01/2018 21:52

Good to hear you are getting sorted. Thanks for the update.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 24/01/2018 22:01

Try asking your doc for tranexcmic acid or menafemic acid. Much better than what you have now.

JeReviens · 24/01/2018 22:05

The OP is already taking those Eltons. Did you read the thread?

Eltonjohnssyrup · 24/01/2018 22:18

Missed that post. Was only trying to be helpful anyway.

Pickledonion24 · 25/01/2018 11:10

Feeling much better still getting pain and so tired worried about the future as leaving the family buisness to get a proper job and worried about sick days I’ve alreay missed an interview because of it

Pickeldonion - no advise but wanted to say you are not alone - I'm also drugged up to the eye balls and still in agony and waiting for a lap to diagnose endo. Last night even my teenage ds realized how much pain I was in and cooked the tea - he doesn't normally notice anything going on he's so absorbed in his own world!

Only advise is to keep on at gyne for answers/treatment.
