To wonder why I get so ridiculously hungry?

Not sure if this is normal.

On an average working day I eat;

Bowl of porridge or 2x weetabix for breakfast (don't have time for anything more substantial)
Banana at 10 o'clock
Sandwich at 12, either egg or chicken or some pasta salad.
Then a small orange and a yoghurt or a packet of crisps.

By half 3 I'm so hungry I feel weak and I struggle to wait until 6 for my dinner.

Also if i don't eat my sandwich at 12 I can't concentrate on my work and get the shakes.

It's embarrassing because everyone has their lunch at 1.30 but I just can't wait.

I have tried having eggs for breakfast but it makes no difference and I don't have time anyway.

I was hungry all the time and slim - turned out I had ceoliac disease.

Sorry can I add - I didn’t have stomach problems - I have silent ceoliac disease. No symptoms - just damaged gut.

I find that bread makes me more hungry so I avoid that in the day time

I leave home early (6.40) and have breakfast at work about 9.15/9.30. what fills me up most are pancakes made with egg, fruit, protein powder, oats all whizzed up in a blender. I make enough for 2-3 days then warm them in the microwave at work and eat them with fruit and yoghurt.

ittakes2 - did you feel totally well, no symptoms other than hunger? How did you get diagnosed?

Everyone is different! I eat pretty much constantly throughout the day, so does my Sister. I'm a size 8 she is a small size 4. No idea how much I weigh I don't own scales! We both get very faint and hangry if we don't eat regularly! Some people just have faster metabolisms than others.

I'm trying to take salads to work at the moment to try and break my expensive and unhealthy Pret habit which also left me shaky and dizzy by mid afternoon and craving something sweet even though I don't have a sweet tooth really.

I tend to buy general salad items (raw spinach, rocket, watercress, little gem, pepper, beetroot, cherry toms, avacado etc) then mix and match the protein and dairy element to try and keep it interesting. So one week I'll add turkey and a few chunks of emmenthal another week lean ham with some feta or mozzarella. Another week hot smoked salmon. I wish I liked eggs so I could make use of hard boiled ones but I don't!

If I'm having avocado I add it at work so it doesn't go yucky and brown by lunchtime. I also always add a drizzle of olive oil and either lemon or lime juice.

If I'm still hungry I have some oatcakes.

Other weeks I'll oven roast a huge tray of veg (aubergine, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, chilli, fennel, red onion, courgettes etc) add lots of lime or lemon zest and herbs and chuck in a few chunks of halloumi. Then have that with a few spoonfuls of wholewheat cous cous.

OP I had a lovely leaf salad with 2 slices of Parma ham, lemon juice and a boiled egg yesterday, was very filling. A natural yoghurt with a bit if granola for breakfast may help. I keep a box of granola and a spoon in my desk draw and just take a yoghurt in each day.

@ittakestwo Same here, always hungry and never put weight. Tested for coeliac due to family history and came back negative but I still think it’s a possibility. How were you diagnosed?
