To think the majority of radio 4 drama is awful?

Today’s offerings I’ve cringed through were something called, “Tom Wrigglesworth’s hang-ups’ and, “Introduction and Allegro”, about a string quartet. Both supposedly comedies and both pathetically unfunny and irritating. I’ve been at home far more than usual due to illness and bad weather and just about every drama that’s come on I’ve ended up turning off. I don’t understand why they can do factual programmes so well yet don’t seem to be able to find people to write decent drama.

I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable and am totally out of kilter with what decent drama involves or whether most of it is actually a pile of rubbish.

It’s preachy drama in the main. I hate that.

Love ‘Round the Horn’ and ‘Tom Wrigglesworth’ - both make me laugh out loud.

I was listening to ‘Boy’ by Rhold Dhal today and it was brilliant.

The antibiotics in Hawaii drivel is a low point though.

I feel like gathering up my friends, recording their funny stories, then sending it to the R4 producers with a note saying ‘THIS is humour.’

I absolutely love Old Harry's Game. Makes me laugh every single time, a great series.

Sad to report the condition of Radio 4 comedy is no better. The weekly 6 30 slot is dire...like its been for ages . Mondays you have the tedious MUSEUM OF CURIOSITY... another excuse for over exposed comedians to guffaw at each other... TUESDAY... SIMON EVANS GOES TO MARKET..and I for one wish hed stay there....WEDNESDAY ... the awful BRIDGET CHRISTIE squawking feminist nonsense... THURSDAY ... the extremely overated and not at all funny JOHN FINNEMORE... and to round off a dismal week on FRIDAY... THE NEWS QUIZ.... see MONDAY...all in all pretty awful....
