He isn't arrogant. He's exceptionally talented and quite watchable too.

The contestants seem to like him and they seem like quite normal people who I'd expect to be fair judges of character. He comes across as supportive and pleasant on GBBO.

I quite like the guy.

He bakes nice bread, got a bit lucky and judges cakes on TV. He comes across well enough in that he allows people to take the piss out of him. The affair and not taking the high ground when Bake Off moved to C4 does not exactly endear him but in the long list off celebrity wankers he hardly registers.
