Chicken pox

Sorry not really an Aibu just for the traffic. DD (5) has a few red spots that almost look like blisters. She says one (on her back) itches but she's not itching generally all over. There isn't many- a few on back and side torso, and this morning 1 has appeared under her nose.
Thing is, I though pox was accompanied by illness- fever, under the weather etc? She's definitely not this, her usual self eating and sleeping.
Also it's not very bad- does this sound like chicken pox or something else viral?

Sounds like pox to me, not always accompanied with feeling poorly. Starts of with just a few spots and by day 2 they seem to be multiplying before your very eyes!

The more I look the more I think it is! She's very perky in herself though is she likely to become under the weather as the spots multiply?

Mine both had it before Christmas and barely had a temperature/actual illness/or Chinese between them. Only ended up using the poxclin stuff 4 times in total.
Quite a few spots though. Not all of them seemed to properly blister either and they were all scanned over within a week. Thurs-weds dd1, sun-sat dd2. It must affect everyone differently though. A boy in dd2's class was off school for over 2 weeks.

Chinese = itchiness

earlylifecrisis · 21/01/2018 07:43

Thanks muddling sounds like it can present differently. Oh gawd I cannot afford 2 weeks off school for her hope it doesn't get that bad!

Get some bicarbonate of soda and keep putting that in the bath with them,it reduces the itchiness, soothes and helps them dry up quicker. Both my DC spent a lot of the time in the bath and both had dried up in a week.

Both dd fine at the the start, one covered but still fine, bouncy happy in herself. The other one.. Only one few spots but very deep... Very ill with it ie.. Temp shooting up rapidly, secondary infection... Floppy

earlylifecrisis · 21/01/2018 08:01

Sorry to hear say I'll certainly keep a close eye on DD.
Thanks for the bath advice - we will begin today!

In my experience, working in a nursery, children are ill with a temp and or diarrhoea couple of weeks before the soya appear
Most children are not ill when they have the spots

earlylifecrisis · 21/01/2018 08:06

That's interesting insincerre , she hasn't been ill at all this term apart from a sick bug just over a week ago.

The sick bug might have been the start of the chicken pox

newmumwithquestions · 21/01/2018 08:13

2 yo DD didn’t seem to notice until several days in when she was covered in spots.
1 yo DD was ill, raging temperature, etc from the start and got it very badly.
Just depends.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 21/01/2018 08:34

DD was fine in herself, just a bit grumpy when the spots were itchy. No other signs of illness at all. We had a nice few days playing at home.
