Other parents and drug use

I have never really thought about it. Last night my friend told me she was distancing herself from another class mother due her drug use.
So cocaine at a party and her husband using that on gaming weekends. Pills were mentioned.
My friend is very stressed about the situation and wonders if now she should let other parent's know. Would you want to know?

Haha @elton. You certainly were the cool kid doing all those drugs as well as knowing when to stop

Yes. I bloody was. But it wasn't so much 'knowing' when to stop as looking at my bank account and 'knowing' I needed to get a proper job and stop fucking about. Like most people do eventually except for the stilted adults still trying to recreate their teen years when they should know bloody better.

He was my role model for most of my youth as it goes. I even had maracas.

Apart from being saddo no life's ( so boring they have to get out of their heads, because there's nothing else they can think of to do) this means they are associating with the drug crime chain. I've had to clean up after it.

Dump as losers.

My mum did recreational drugs when I was a child. I used to live in an area where lots of parents did it as well, both as a child and as a parent. They all thought they were above everyone else and would give similar abnoxious comments that are now being given to Elton. They can do what they want to their kids and their families, they can even convince themselves that it's all fine. But they just look ridiculous when they try to convince others. And yes, the same goes for alcohol, only at least they are only fattening the pockets of legal dealers and not contributing to trafficking and child prostitution.

My best friend smokes weed and has done for years, it doesn’t bother me I just don’t do it with her.

"this means they are associating with the drug crime chain"

This is what bothers me far more than people actually taking drugs. Now, if they were legalised we could avoid that.

I get the impression that doing illegal drugs is normalised on MN. In my circle of friends and family it is most definitely not the normal thing to do. DD avoids them because she doesn't want it to affect her chances of getting into medical school. She already has her DBS check in place and doesn't want to lose it.

Justkeepleft · 20/01/2018 12:59

The biggest shock for my friend is it is outside her experience and she doesn't want her 5 year old being exposed to some one who normalises drug use. Or may have drugs in their home.
For me it is a good to know thing. I won't be telling anyone else.
The other mother told my friend all this directly so she heard it first hand and was very direct with her thoughts.
Thanks for your thoughts
