To want to know why this guy comes home?

I definitely am BU Grin because it’s none of my bloody business. But I thought i’d put it out to MN speculation and see what you lot can come up with.

Neighbour comes home from work at random times in the day, goes into the house for less than a minute. Sometimes only about 20 seconds and then leaves again. I don’t even think its long enough to use the toilet most times. TBH I doubt I would notice except his job is in a care role and he drives a minibus whilst working so I hear the thing when it comes in. He always has at least one of the people he cares for in the bus when he comes home so is clearly on the clock. He sometimes brings the person into the house with him but more often just leaves them on the bus. He sometimes has a colleague with him too so people at work know he is doing this. I live in a small town where everyone knows what you had for breakfast and there were rumours that this man’s wife had cheated on him a few years ago. I have no idea if that is true but I wondered if he was coming home during the day to check up on her. However he does it even when she is working so not at home.

So, what do you reckon? Other than me needing a hobby. Grin

Alcohol.

whiskyowl · 19/01/2018 16:04

Wow, I am slightly disappointed that the explanation is so rational and makes so much sense. It would make a much better story if he were a drug-addled lunatic... Wink

frasier · 19/01/2018 16:06

TalkinPeace Yep.

Is his minibus at his home overnight OP?

Blackteadrinker77 · 19/01/2018 16:09

He's farting

BerkInBag · 19/01/2018 16:15

"Oh I hadn’t thought of drugs! Hmm. Could be. I know a few of his acquaintances and there are a couple of dealers amongst them."

Is the small town you live in anywhere around the West Yorkshire/East Lancashire border? Does it begin with the letter T or the letters H&B?

Rudgie47 · 19/01/2018 16:25

Hes going to the toilet, most men dont wash their hands afterwards even if they do a poo.

Halebeke425 · 19/01/2018 16:29

could he have OCD and have some compulsion to return home multiple times to check/do something quick and seemingly insignificant. Or I would say going toilet, maybe he has a continence issue and if he's driving all day then it would make sense.

Milvusmilvus · 19/01/2018 16:31

Unreasonable...yes I agree, he is probably needing the loo. I know lots of people who can't anywhere without checking out the facilities beforehand. Eg Coach and travel. They tend to have jobs that help them to cope such as being self employed (free to leave whenever) or offices. If you work in the public arena (customer service desks) where you can't leave your place is difficult for some people.

epicclusterfuck · 19/01/2018 16:36

Picking up his post?

allthgoodusernamesaretaken · 19/01/2018 16:37

Leaving service users alone on the bus or bringing them into his home is a massive red flag

This

ToadOfSadness · 19/01/2018 16:54

Maybe he is stealing things and needs to drop them off.

whoareyoukidding · 19/01/2018 16:55

I personally wouldn't alert or approach him. You could inform the police if you felt that his actions were affecting his charges.

formerbabe · 19/01/2018 16:57

Blimey, there's so many busybodies on MN!

Deadlylampshade · 19/01/2018 17:05

You seem surprised babe?

RainbowGlitterFairy · 19/01/2018 17:30

You do realise having started a thread you now have to go and ask him so we know?

I reckon he grows plants that need regular watering/checking. Whether these are some perfectly legal exotic plants or cannabis I don't know.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 19/01/2018 17:32

The men I know do, Rudgie!

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 19/01/2018 17:34

Sorry everyone, my friend called.

I have no intention of approaching him. He is scary.

Also I’ve tortured myself quite a lot about his charges being left in the bus but there is no way I can report it without him knowing it was me. I’ve already had to call the police on him about making threats against me and trying to get into my house. He really is a horrible aggressive bully. I can’t risk him starting up shit with me again.

Oh and I’m not in Lancashire/Yorkshire for the poster who was asking. There must be two of him!

Corr I wish I had that much time on my hands to monitor my neighbours!

Maybe you could hide in a plant pot near his front door to get a closer look?

BulletFox · 19/01/2018 17:41

Hide in a plant pot Grin

I’m studying at the minute so a lot of time spent at the kitchen table.

No plant pots big enough to fit my big arse in. I could try the wheelie bin.

mishfish · 19/01/2018 17:46

If he’s that abusive to his neighbours he doesn’t sound suited to a care role at all Sad

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 19/01/2018 17:56

No he doesn’t at all. He’s very unpleasant.

Cosyclara · 19/01/2018 18:01

Sounds like a drug dealer... i had one living next door for ages. He didnt have customers coming to the house he met them up the road. Think he just came home to collect whatever he was selling. We only found out for sure once they moved out that he was dealing but it made all the strange behaviour make sense.

Hahaha!! You are officially my favourite ever person on MN!!

Okay no to plant pot. What if we disguise you as a human-sized garden gnome?

(Why do I feel like this could be a plot from Mrs Brown's Boys?)
