For their own medical treatment. Children have died from eating them yet so many online are eating them for fun Angry

This is a cruel stance but I think any idiots doing this are so stupid that they will probably end up dead some other way pretty quickly.

Feckitall · 19/01/2018 12:03

Idiot removal sounds good to me...

Smokers do pay for their health related needs - most of the cost of a packet of fags is tax, the same with alcoholics, unless they are brewing their own booze!

What about people that do dangerous sports? I can't see the attraction on playing rugby personally, and it brings nothing to the economy so why should my tax pay for rugby injuries?

Clearly eating laundry detergent is bloody stupid and to be strongly discouraged but if we have an NHS we can't start picking and choosing just because the people that need treatment are stupid

SukiTheDog · 19/01/2018 12:09

Darwin knew his stuff! 😁

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/01/2018 12:10

nancy75 The difference is that smoking has a negative impact on everyone who decides to do it and everyone who is around them.

You might not be a fan of rugby, but rugby has a positive impact on the majority of people that play and watch it; the same applies with all sports.

Not to mention the positive impact on the economy sporting events like Wimbledon have.

NorbertTheDragon · 19/01/2018 12:12

Bloody hell, I though this was an amusing typo. My kids aren't stupid enough to eat them, I seriously hope kids aren't taking part in this.

brownelephant · 19/01/2018 12:12

they should be illegal anyway.
not needed and dangerous

Missingstreetlife · 19/01/2018 12:14

Er we live in U.K., have nhs
Go to USA if u want to pay for health care.
Then lose your job and insurance
No thanks
Free at point of need. Idiot children won't pay, parents would be liable, like tony Blair marching drug addicts up to the cash point toward pay the fine, get real

JustDanceAddict · 19/01/2018 12:14

They’re really annoying anyway - much prefer liquid in a bottle! If anyone is stupid enough to eat one - wtf - tgebtgey dhould at least donate back to the hospital for their stupidity.

Queeniebed · 19/01/2018 12:18

Ive seen photos pn FB of people putting them in the bath like bath bombs but never eating them on purpose

Viviennemary · 19/01/2018 12:18

Never heard of this. It's totally mad. It's self harm whether deliberate or not. So you would have to stop any medical treatment for self inflicted illness or injury. Which isn't going to happen.

ToadOfSadness · 19/01/2018 12:20

Perhaps when they have eaten one they could cement their heads into a microwave and finish the job properly. Reduce the strain on the NHS that way.

x2boys · 19/01/2018 12:22

If it's a kids craze kids do stupid things when I was in junior 4 (that's how long ago I was at primary) there was a phase where people scratched the back of their hand to get a nasty manky scab it was called chicken scratches Confused

hollowtree · 19/01/2018 12:23

Wtaf I thought 'Neck it Nomination' was pretty fucking stupid but apparently it gets worse?

astoundedgoat · 19/01/2018 12:27

I am honestly stunned by this and thought it was a joke at first. We briefly used those "pretty" gel pods and when DD was 2 she bit into one. I was just coming in the door and the nanny had come out to meet me, and dd had headed straight for the kitchen and got to the box.

We called the hospital, jumped in the car and went straight to A&E with dd alternating between vomiting (freshly scented...) blue bubbles all over me and - even more alarming, given that I didn't know what to do - falling asleep. She was kept for observation for a few hours, and was fine, but it was really scary for me. When I was on the phone to the hospital before bringing her in the nurse sternly told me to STOP GOOGLING, just to come in.

I can't imagine doing it on purpose unless you actually wanted to self-harm in a particularly inventive way.

SoupDragon · 19/01/2018 12:28

I thought that you weren’t meant to actually eat them, just create something like a pizza that looks like you are.

Of course there will always be idiots who do eat them.

IamPickleRick · 19/01/2018 12:28

Chicken scratches don’t cost the already under rescourced NHS any money though...

crunchymint · 19/01/2018 12:29

I can't believe some people are choosing to eat them. And yes sadly most deaths up till now have been caused by people with dementia eating them.

Aworldofmyown · 19/01/2018 12:40

This week I have heard kids at my daughters school crush up sweets to sniff them, they also smoke the crushed up sweets! WTAF - how do they think these things up.

TreacleBoo · 19/01/2018 12:40

It’s not a playground craze though, it’s older teenagers doing it to get views on the internet. It’s people old enough, in a lot of cases, to have children, join the military, etc. Absolutely ridiculous & they deserve all they get.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 19/01/2018 12:41

I saw this in a FB group - apparently Tide have had to put a warning on their pod bags now to tell people not to eat them.

I wasn't at all aware of this (and didn't know what a tide pod was!) but it's just another one of those stupid fucking daredevil shit stunts that teens do, isn't it. LIke the car racing and other utterly fuckwitted stuff that often ended up with death or disablement.

However. If it's true that many of the affected teens are vulnerable and/or with disabilities, then no, they shouldn't be made to pay for their treatment but whoever gave them the fucking idea should be charged with attempted murder. Angry

Youshallnotpass · 19/01/2018 12:49

It makes me laugh how humans can be both the most intelligent and most stupid living beings on the planet at the same time.

BitOutOfPractice · 19/01/2018 12:52

What the actual fuck?!?

FluffyWuffy100 · 19/01/2018 12:54

I do think the manufacturers should not make them look like sweets, that does seem irresponsible

They don’t look like sweets.

Parents need to keep them out of reach of children who can invest by accident.

Anyone investing on purpose for fun and filming it is stupid enough that I can’t really be too upset if they fuck themselves up.

BattleCuntGalactica · 19/01/2018 12:55

Shit like this is why aliens pass us by. They look and realise we are all completely shitball crazy.
