To ask. How cheap you can get Wed? I want to do it sooner rather than later

So we plan to get Wed next September.
However due to many reasons. Our first dc together due in 7 weeks I would love to do it before. Plus we've had a lot of stress from various factors which have been unavoidable but have tainted the pregnancy so to speak.

So I'm. Thinking possibly to do it now?

Were not flashy people and like it simple.

So. Would just want

Registry office
Obvs my dress.. But just a nice ivory one.
1* bridesmaid
Ds as ring bearer so suit
Dp suit

Prob about 50 family to the main part

Then either disco after..
Or a meal..?.

Then cake
Button holes
Posey
Photographer.. We know one anyway

Anything else to. Keep it simple

And rough prices.

Congratulations. I sore I lovely ivory prom dress in Debenhams when I was looking for a wedding dress was only £100 (but that was 10yrs ago) getting married mid week is cheaper than weekends. If you had a late wedding you could just provide one meal which would also be cheaper. Oh and haggle, barter and ask business to better other businesses prices.

bedtimestories · 18/01/2018 17:25

Oh and I got my cake from marks and spencer, was £200 but amazingly delicious and everything on it was chocolate 😋

silvousplaitmerci · 18/01/2018 17:27

Have a look at Chi Chi London at the prom/tea
Style dresses. They do an ivory one and I think it's about £70.

Tobebythesea · 18/01/2018 17:29

I second the Marks and Spencer wedding cakes. Delicious and £219.

Lots of great dresses on Asos for about £100. Mid week is definitely cheaper - and not booked up years ahead. A lot of bridesmaids pay for their own dress as long as they like it. Have a wonderful day.

You can do food and disco for a few hundred pounds if your venue is somewhere like a church hall and you do a buffet meal.

Buttonholes and posy probably in the region of £50-£70 but possibly cheaper depending on where you live

Cake - marks and spencer for a couple of hundred pounds OR ask your guests to bring a cake / dessert and have a competition. My cousin did this and it was really fun and a nice way of involving people from the church community.

You can hire suits for son and husband. BM can buy her own dress, esp if you give her freedom to choose what she likes. For your dress monsoon have a lovely bridal range. So do asos!

In terms of decorating the hall, go for cheap and impactful like balloons and streamers and candles. Will look gorgeous and not be super expensive.

You can save on the disco by having a playlist and hiring some lights, with cheap disco balls hanging from the ceiling.

Should of said I know a cake maker too so would be about £100.

Can't do a midweek as we dont have DSD with us. Plus dp has no holiday time.

It needs to be a maternity dress if just before the birth.

May have a wonder to register office tomorrow and make enquiries

Alwayswillingtohelp · 18/01/2018 17:38

BM is only 5 so can't but her own

We've been offered a venue for free if buy the food from them.. Which won't be too pricey as dp helps them out alot

It was more pricing for outfits. Register office. Flowers mainly

Alwayswillingtohelp · 18/01/2018 17:40

Where roughly in the country are you? If in London or Surrey I can send links to a couple of places.

Have a look at www.cancelledweddings.co.uk - people selling either deposits or whole prepaid weddings at a percentage of what they paid, a bit like eBay for weddings. Might seem like a sad idea but sometimes reasons are as simple as a change of date to accommodate family, etc.

You're definitely doing the right thing by calling the register office tomorrow / soon - you need to give notice 28 days in advance at least, and sometimes need to wait a week plus for the appointment at the register office. So you might be able to book appt and then find venue etc in the meantime.

Wishing you the best.

Sorry cross post - that's good re: venue.

I'm in the South.

We definitely don't want fancy. We just want to be husband and wife.. If not before the baby.
Definitely by the summer I think is the max I want to wait

Ah that sounds lovely! I’m not sure if it’s just because I’ve been to a million but I think the cliche traditional big wedding thing is getting old Wink Much more memorable and also cheap are things like fish and chip van of an evening or hog roast .... could save on cakes by having a fete style table where lots of people bring one... even little picnic boxes with sandwiches and a pork pie wedding cake... I think work with a budget and have fun with it and everyone will enter in, rather than trying to do hotel wedding on budget and it all feel a bit tight.

I picked up a lovely monsoon wedding dress in tkmaxx for £15 once because “just in case” and then sold it on eBay Years later for around the same price... both could be good places to look!

There are also some charity shops that have agreements to get all the wedding dresses so ask around - could be good!

Depending on the style (guessing empire line or similar for Maternity) you could also buy bigger (sale or second hand) to fit bump and have local tailor alter it.

I’d really recommend second hand for Bridesmaid etc as literally only worn once and you can’t tell.

Helendipity · 18/01/2018 18:59

Excited for you! Enjoy!

Nomad86 · 18/01/2018 19:08

You can hire wedding suits from debenhams if you don't think you'll use them again. My dress was from monsoon for about £120. It was ivory silk and very floaty with a high waistline so would have been fine with a bump. As it's off the rack rather than made to measure, you can buy it last minute when you know how big you'll be.

I had very basic flowers, bouquet and table decorations, it came to £300. Decide a budget then ask the florist what she can do and try to stick to seasonal flowers which are cheaper.

Ask around the family to see what skills people have. My grandma made my cake and had it professionally iced as her wedding present. My uncle did the music. My brother in law has a fancy car so he drove us to the reception for example.
