To be seriously annoyed

I live in a property split into two flats and a communal front door. The other flat is empty.

When the landlord took over the properties and several other neighbouring flats the other flats old tenant was already in situ so the landlord continued to manage his but the letting agent dealt with mine when I moved in and all the new tenants.

We had an issue with this where the landlord told the other tenant who was always away but luckily other tenant told me and was in when I came home.

Fast forward a few year.
Other flat is empty so they are replacing the knackered front door.

Landlord popped along two weeks ago to tell me but didn't know when.

I have no contact for the landlord so rang the letting agent and asked them to make sure I was informed when as I would get locked out of the property. They insisted they would.

Was meant to be out all day today and wouldn't have been back until 7pm and Dc would have been home before me.
Came back early unexpectedly to find the contractor ripping the door frame off the hinges and no front door.

Seriously annoyed. Had I come back at 7pm as planned I would have been locked out all night as the office would have been closed and I have no emergency number.

Dc would have got in before me and would have been locked out on the street. Seriously peed off.

What has the letting agent said about it?

Sorry, I don't understand this "We had an issue with this where the landlord told the other tenant who was always away but luckily other tenant told me and was in when I came home." told what?

YANBU to be annoyed if I've interpreted the rest of your post properly. You are owed notice for any visits or changes to your property.

Letting agent hasn't responded yet.

Sorry I clearly missed a part out when writing Blush.
In the first incident years ago the other tenant reported a sticky lock direct to the landlord, landlord arranged to sort but I wasn't informed. Luckily the tenant who was away for weeks on end managed to catch me before he went so that I was aware and was still home when I came back so I had to ring the bell and hope he was on to get access to my flat.

This time I am the only tenant.

What do you mean hasn't responded?

You have a phone number for them, ring them straight away and tell them how dangerous this could have been.
Your children could have been locked out of their home.
