To wonder if ParcelForce don't actually carry the parcels with them?

Package was due yesterday. I was in.

Heard the letter box flapping with the regular post and noticed a ParcelForce card saying they'd 'attempted' to deliver at 9.30am. I was in. Our letter box is loud. Our door knocker is loud. To post the card through the letter box they must have done it really carefully, deliberately not making any noise.

They crossed the card indicating they'd try again today.

I got up earlyish, and have been sitting about 5 metres from the front door so I wouldn't miss it. No noise. Just drinking tea and MNing. No music or anything.

DP just left for work. Yup. There's a card. 9.30am. I heard nothing.

I just wish I'd had the curtains open so I could've seen him tiptoeing up the drive and stealthily posting his card.

Seriously, why bother? Why not just say they don't want to deliver it?

Once had a Yodel delivery where the guy didn't knock, posted a card through the letterbox and then hurled the parcel containing fragile items over the back gate in the rain. Stomped out of the front door after having read the card and confronted him as he hadn't knocked - I was sat on my sofa a few feet from the door! Rang the company and complained about the delivery man.

I've had some serious problems with delivery companies lately - namely Hermes, but also UKMail. It's so hard to get them to deliver your parcel and even harder to complain when they don't do as instructed. I've been going round in circles with their recorded message systems and I spent many frustrating hours on this last week.

So in future I will only buy things from companies that use Royal Mail. Royal Mail aren't wonderful, but at least you can get things redelivered to a post office and pick up from there.

I gave up on home deliveries.

I recently learned that ParcelForce delivered my engagement ring signed for delivery to the flower pot next to the door. Nope not hidden behind the plant but balanced on the top of the pansies! Is good that we live in a quite place because the company name was written on the packaging and was clearly jewellery.

I can't remember which company it was from but we had a note through the door saying DH's delivery had been left under the bike cover in the front garden. It's hard to explain but you had to walk past the front garden bit which was concrete walled to just about under boob height to me (5'2, I used to swing my handbag onto the wall to look for keys as I was going in) to get to the front door, it was to your left and had a little gate before the communal 2 flat front door. DH called them to complain that it wasn't there and the company said the driver was adamant it was, after much back and forth they were sending the driver back and they told DH he could lose his job over it Shock. Before he came back they clarified how he'd put it under the motorbike cover and the driver said he'd opened the gate and put it there. We lived in a shithole area hot on bike theft and the little gate was padlocked. With a separate bolt you could only see if you knew where it was or jumped the fence. The company were satisfied with this info and assumed he'd nicked it but still sent him back and he was so aggressive! Shouted and swore at DH who wasn't bothered at all but it's not like he couldn't deliver it or didn't have it, he must have parked up and walked up to the door to know the details. I was in as well. DH got a new item in the end and I am quite sure the driver lost his job, he must have deliberately nicked it!

God after reading these horror stories I’m so glad my Hermes lady and Parcelforce man are lovely. My Hermes lady brings biscuits for the dog or will text me if she’s left the parcel in the porch and the Parcelforce man will leave parcels in my porch or if he sees me walking the dds to school and it’s not a big parcel he’ll let me sign his gizmo and hand me the parcel through the window. He is a total sweetie. Grin

I once saw the ParcelFarce card come through the door and opened it and the guy admitted that he had no parcels on the van, he just dropped the cards in and expected the customers to collect their parcels "because everyone round here has a car".

Don't make excuses for it, please, it's just bloody idle.

Doublegloucester · 18/01/2018 22:38

Spooky, this thread has arisen now. My parcelforce driver banged the letterbox this morning - I assumed it was something being put through the door, as if you want me to answer the door, you ring the bell, right? Then a card fell through the door. Being 32 weeks pregnant, by the time I opened the door, I was watching the van go halfway down the road. Nearest depot is 25 miles away!!

NightRaven52 · 18/01/2018 22:43

I've had this too!

Our house is set up so that the living room window overlooks the front door and the path leading up to it. If I'm being a lazy git on the sofa, it is physically impossible not to see me if someone comes to the door, unless they do an awkward side shuffle up the path.

Was waiting for a delivery before Christmas and saw the Hermes guy coming up the path. Didn't knock, just put the card straight through the letterbox. The fucker even looked directly at me before he did it too!!

As soon as I heard the letterbox go, I was at the door in seconds and he was hurriedly trying to get down the path. I called after him and asked for my parcel to be told that he didn't have it as it hadn't handed it over to him at the depot..

If they don't have the parcel, why even bother doing the delivery route?! Hmm

leftwiththedognow · 18/01/2018 22:44

Every single parcel from ParcelForce means a 'collect from the sorting office' card. I opened the door on one once as I spotted her posting the card.
'Ah - I havent actually got it. You are always at work' No I'm not.

And my NDN (who invariably also has parcels) takes mine in no problem.

TheQueenOfWands · 18/01/2018 22:47

I didn't have a grumpy driver return with my parcel so I guess I'm waiting until Saturday.

It's an office chair for DS which he's weirdly excited about assembling so he'll be there with his eyes peeled early in the morning.

We're going to stick TBBT on and lie in wait...

Also the sorting office is freaking miles away. And I mean miles.

We had some parcels delivered not long before Christmas a couple of years ago - delayed wedding presents, so we didn’t know when they were coming. The parcelforce guy left a card saying we should be in when ordering for Christmas! I complained about that (once I’d carried two large boxes home from the neighbours!). Really fucking cheeky that comment.

TheQueenOfWands · 19/01/2018 15:37

They did it again today!!

OMFG! The balls!
Shock

Got home from work at 8.30am, had a shower and settled down to watch a movie (again, about five metres from the front door).

DS just got in and there's ANOTHER card on the mat.
Hmm

Batshit for three reasons. a) They ignored my 'please knock sign', b) Redelivery was booked for tomorrow, and c) Again, they must've put the card through sooo quietly - I certainly heard the other post coming through (load of wanky leaflets and a charity bag).

Same driver each time. He has very curly handwriting.

This is annoying me greatly.

Curly handwriting and a piss poor work ethic!
