Back seat driving - arrrgh

Driving home in snow on the motorway tonight, DH proclaims he is tired and can't I go a bit faster?

I'm doing 50-55mph which I feel matches the conditions; the snow isn't sticking, but there's low visibility as it's flurrying, and the road is wet and I know it to be prone to flooding which is hard to spot in the dark.

I say I'm the one who has to live by the consequences of my driving choices, so I'll drive how I feel comfortable thank you.

Only a few miles down the road, we come across an accident scene of a car which has jack-knifed into another and is horizontal across two lanes of the motorway. It's pretty scary.

WIBU and how do you tame backseat driving???

YANBU. You're the driver and the passenger puts up and shuts up or walks home.

I have stopped the car (when Safe to do so) and said that when I want driving lessons I will book the services of a qualified instructor. And anyone else can FRO.

And only set off again when they agree.

It does help that I have a MUCH better record than him. (no penalties and only one crash in 25 years)

Yanbu. If you are driving, you're in control of the car. You are meant to adjust your driving to suit weather, road and surrounding conditions whist staying within the highway code. Your DH was 100% in the wrong.

YANBU - you were being sensible given the conditions.

I tell back seat drivers that if I wanted driving lessons, i'd book them! They can always use public transport instead!

yesandho I realised after posting Blush I guess I meant that it must have spun into another car.
