It would depend on the cost of the carpet really.

MickeyLuv · 16/01/2018 21:26

Also depends on the size of the rooms and whether you are having them all done! A bit more info is definately required.

BarbaraofSevillle · 16/01/2018 21:30

You could probably pay anything from a few hundred to a few thousand or more to floor a 3 bed house depending on type, quality, where bought from, DIY or fitted, size of house, where in country and probably other factors.

People could give all sorts of answers that would do nothing to help you work out whether your unspecified quote is reasonable.

my kitchen and dining room are karndean and it cost £1300. Medium sized rooms.

SavoyCabbage · 16/01/2018 21:34

I’m getting flooring for a whole house at the moment so I am practically an expert,!

But there is no ‘normal’ cost as there are hundreds and hundreds of kinds of flooring.

fourandnomore · 16/01/2018 21:34

Four bed house. 2 large bedrooms, one small, one medium, hallway upstairs and stairs carpeted was approx £2k incl decent carpet, thick underlay and fitting. Solid 25mm oak flooring downstairs two large reception rooms and hallway approx £1.5k incl underlay and fitting (from vague memory!! Could have been nearer 2k)

harrietm87 · 16/01/2018 21:36

120 sq m carpet (4 bed house but tiles in kitchen and bathrooms) = £4.5k for us. Carpet £20/sqm, 80% wool.

Battleax · 16/01/2018 21:36

You can compare £ per Msquare online. Do you know the floor area of your house? Zoopla will help you find a neighbour's floor plan if you don't.

ThisLittleKitty · 16/01/2018 21:38

I was just quoted £250 for carpet and fitting for a 9ft by 9ft room. I though that was pricey for a box room so I didn't go with it.

GinisLife · 16/01/2018 21:41

Karndean 72 sq/m £5000

peachgreen · 17/01/2018 07:27

I think it depends where you are. We just had hall, stairs, landing, lounge and two double bedrooms done for £790 including fitting. That included thick, good quality underlay but two of the carpets were offcuts which saved a lot. We're in NI.

BarbaraofSevillle · 17/01/2018 07:56

The actual fitting of a carpet can be incredibly cheap. There is a carpet shop near us where you go in buy your carpet and the freelance fitter will pick it up and come and fit it for you.

I had a small double bedroom done and the man came and did it one evening while his son was playing football a few minutes drive away.

He was in the house less than an hour and it cost the princely sum of £20. Did a good job and got a receipt and all was fine.

ImAMarshmellow · 17/01/2018 08:53

We have a 3 bed and payed £2100 (fitting was £800 Shock)
Carpet for x3 bedrooms we bought off the roll remnants, staircase and small landing was £14 p whatever it's measured in, bathrooms are tiny and cost about £20 for the both (Lino) The most expensive but was the lounge and kitchen/diner. We paid for wooden floor which was about £8p/sqm (massively reduced from its original price) but fitting was closer to £15psm.
We also needed underlay in all rooms as well as grippers throughout.
We love the flooring. Could have easily spent a hell of a lot more

HisBetterHalf · 17/01/2018 09:01

Cost is going to be based on type of flooring, quality of flooring, type and quality of any underlay, fitting costs, any finishings etc
I paid £700 for quick step laminate with underlay, finishing etc for medium room, £600 for carpeting stairs and tiniest bit of landing and £1900 for real oak parquet for medium room (14 foot by 12)
