Private birth- NHS postnatal

AIBU to expect the NHS postnatal care (midwives and health visitors at home) if I'm having a private elective c section? My understanding is that I will have to pay for the visits (around £1200) but it does not sound fair as I only wanted to have a section and my baby should still receive free health checks as all other babies do. My antenatal has been under the NHS in the same hospital. Has anyone done this?

Swing, I’m afraid that’s not correct.

Nonsense on this thread from supposed NHS professionals is worrying.
You can certainly opt in and out,

I had NHS antenatal care, a private c section (in an NHS hospital) and NHS post natal care. The baby is automatically an NHS patient anyway. What would happen if someone had a c section in a private wing of an NHS hospital and then the baby needed special care? There is no private special care facility. The money paid by my insurance company (medically necessary c section) went straight the the trust. Everyone was a winner (and i actually got some sleep and help help with breastfeeding unlike the first time where the post natal ward was like some sort of Chinese sleep torture experiment!)

C&w are notoriously reluctant to offer a C section by the way.

Switch to St Thomas's if you can, they are so much more flexible!
