To find whistlers annoying?

TenancyTroublesAgain · 16/01/2018 12:50

Specifically tuneless, incessant whistlers.

Inspired by the current atonal whistling that's been going on non stop for the past 20 minutes. Angry

I really find it piercing sometimes and think prolonged whistling is a bit much. The occasional tuneful burst isn't so bad, it's when they don't stop.

Anyone else hate it? Blush

So many adverts use whistling now. There's one for a bank that has really loud whistling and a voiceover which I think is Jane Horrocks. It actually makes me feel like I'm going to be sick. I once injured myself leaping for the remote when it came on.

Apparently ECT treatments are being developed for misophonia. I'd honestly go for them if they were proven to work.

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 16/01/2018 15:53

There’s a circle of hell for men who whistle, pen clickers, and key janglers.

iklboo · 16/01/2018 15:54

My Mum whistles over her thumb nail for some gods know why reason. I think she thinks it makes her sound like Roger Whittaker. But she can't whistle properly or in tune.

Don't get brainwashed by the feminists. Hell isn't segregated by sex with men in the better hell.

YANBU. My husband is a whistler. I hate it! It’s such an obnoxious sound.

Although, to be fair, DH & DS know I'm close to losing my shit temper if I start humming Ode To Joy. Grin

singingdetective · 16/01/2018 17:01

I am inclined to whistle now and then, but at least I can whistle in tune Wink

ScreamingValenta · 16/01/2018 17:03

I find it very annoying, even if it's tunefully done. I don't know why - something about it sets my nerves on edge. Humming doesn't bother me, though.

OtterInDisgrace · 16/01/2018 17:05

Loathe it. Like many others on here it actually makes me angry. Just shut up!!! We don’t want to hear it!!!

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP,!!!!

Even talking about it has given me the rage!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/01/2018 17:08

There's a few men at work who whistle. I have taken it as a sign of an empty mind, based on their output and conversations.

My nan always used to say "whistling woman, crowing hen, brings the devil from his den".

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/01/2018 17:10

Also it's fucking annoying, especially since I have ASD and cannot deal with that kind of idiotic repetitive tunelessness. I have no problem if someone tells me they have Tourette as they have a reason.

LavenderLemons · 16/01/2018 17:10

crunched and Rebecca

My mums version was: A whistling woman and a crowing hen brings the devil out of his den!

I whistle all the time and have the mouth lines to prove it Wink

LavenderLemons · 16/01/2018 17:13

Cross post with Bobbin
Where was your Nan from?

IrkThePurist · 16/01/2018 17:13

Its very bad luck to whistle in a blacksmiths forge, they get really angry about it if they are traditional.
(Thats got nothing to do with feminism or brainwashing)

SongsOfInnocence · 16/01/2018 17:14

My mum often whistles to herself when just going about her day. I love it, but then she is very musical and it is definitely in tune!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/01/2018 17:35

We're Scouse, Lavender

LavenderLemons · 16/01/2018 17:50

Bang goes my theory Bobbin. We’re north-east. But with Irish roots.

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 16/01/2018 18:55

@bemusedspectator
You don’t need to worry, the feminists already turned me.

fastfrank · 16/01/2018 19:05

I fucking hate it.

Shockers · 16/01/2018 19:08

Are you in a Booths store near Lancaster, OP?

I’ve had to walk out shoppingless more than once because of the whistling man in there.

gamerwidow · 16/01/2018 19:11

I hate it so much it’s so invasive. If I played music out of my phone really loudly you would quite rightly think I’m a selfish noise polluting idiot. Why is whistling different?

Vulgarlady · 16/01/2018 19:17

Whistling music in adverts really annoys me! It’s everywhere! Bastards

That and clapping music

And ukuleles/banjos

Whistling/clapping/ strumming ukulele ads..I hate you all!!

LadyBunnysWig · 16/01/2018 19:18

Its awful!!!!
