Just saw the end titles of a Channel 4 programme called "The Undateables"
They said "If you know someone who is looking for love who has a disability, contact us..."
Why call it that? I just seems to exploit and mock vulnerable people who, like everyone just want a life.

It’s angood show. It’s also tongue in cheek title. Its about a dating agency too.

I think your offence shows more about you than the show.

I seem to recall that the people who took part in the first series called themselves undateable because they had never been on a date.

The show is lovely. The people on there are so open to love and meeting someone as someone upthread said it really is inspiring and uplifting. I know of two terminally single girlfriends who could benefit from watching this show. Both girlfriends have lists as long as your arm and wonder why they never meet any men. The people on undatables, rarely have a list, don't seem to play by any rules. Its seems natural and heartfelt. I love it.

seeing as op hasnt actually seen the program, i think their comments reflect their prejudices and nastiness about people with disabilities

I think this is a really good example of why you shouldn't pass judgement without understanding context. The title is clearly ironic, although several participants have said they felt undateable and unlovable due to their disabilities.

As others have said the show is a warm and respectful portrayal of people with disabilities looking for love and I think the only show on the box doing anything to highlight that disabled people want love and sex as much as anyone. They handle what could be tricky material with sensitivity and charm and should be applauded for their efforts.
