NC for obvious reasons.

I discovered an unusual bump 'down there' today. It's about 3mm, it's yellow, it doesn't itch and there's only one. It's right down in the fourchette, just below my vaginal opening. I've been in a monogamous (I have been, anyway) relationship for the past five years. I'm terrified it's herpes, but have never even had so much as a cold sore, nor has DP.

It could be a Fordyce spot, or a sebaceous cyst, but I'm just absolutely terrified I've somehow got herpes. Can anyone who has herpes please please tell me what the other symptoms are? I can't get this out of my head, I'm obsessively checking my vag in the mirror every 30 mins to see if more have sprung up. I feel well in myself, no cold/flu symptoms or anything.

If it's herpes, can either of us have had the virus for >5 years? Or has he cheated? I'm absolutely beside myself

Need a hand hold if nothing else Sad

bartholins cyst. I've had 2. one after each pregnancy oddly. It seemed to be the change in post pregnancy hormones that did it.

I've had a bartholin's cyst, after pregnancy. They can grow quite quickly and get pretty painful, but are sorted out quite quickly with a minor urgent op.
They can just hover about as a small lump for a while. My money is on a Bartholin as it sounds in exactly the right place to me.

I've been eyeballing the offending bump all day, I resisted poking it with a needle but I've tried again to squeeze the damn thing and it's not budging so I'm reassured that it's perhaps not a herpes blister as I imagine they'd be quite easy to pop? This seems to be deeper in the tissue. Plus there's definitely only one bump and I think herpes like to go around in little groups, am I right?

I've made a GUM appointment for Thursday evening just to put my silly little mind at rest, though!

Have you done a google image search of herpes?? I work for a gum department (clerical not medical)and your symptoms dont sound typical of herpes but best to get it checked... my dh wandered in one day while i was having a check down there needless to say I only have a look when no one is home 😂

fairgame84 · 16/01/2018 19:08

YABVVU not to pop it with a needle and stick a picture in sporners corner Wink

In all seriousness it's probably some sort of blocked gland. I wouldn't be able to resist fiddling with it and making it worse but you seem very sensible in getting it checked out at GUM.

Could just be an in growing hair. I've had a could down there before.

Yeah I've extensively googled herpes pictures Blush and also noted that most people describe it as excruciatingly painful, whereas this little beastie doesn't hurt a bit.

Also the herpes blisters I've seen in the pictures look very superficial, like the blister could burst at any time, but this is quite a tough little thing. I'm almost certain it's a cyst now, definitely not an ingrown as it's not anywhere that hair would grow, and it's not sore. Just can't wait for a nice lady to look at my bits on Thursday and tell me I'm not herpetic for life Sad

Hi Namechange,
As you know already Herpes is quite painful so can't be it then. It's possibly not a spot either as infected spots are squeezable and again painful. This must be a cyst or a fatty lump and in my years of experience I've seen loads of them around or within genital areas. Please go and see your GP and put your mind at rest. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about. 🤞

Hello ladies!

I'm the not so proud owner of a sebaceous cyst. As luck would have it, the nurse who examined me has one in exactly the same spot.

Thank you all for reassuring me Flowers
