Cuddling in bed is not consent!

I really can’t stand when people read a headline and immediately get outraged without thinking about things properly or doing any further reading about the thing in question.

The pictures are entirely inconsistent with the version of events she told police.

She therefore cannot be believed ‘beyond reasonable doubt’

End of.

I did read the article, but dont let that stop you.

Nowhere did it say that the picures were inconsistent with anything she told the police.

Here's a thought op, don't you think there might, just might, be more information relating to this case than a tiny article by the bbc?

Joey7t8 · 15/01/2018 22:38

Try some further research, OP.

Sounds like another case of the police not wanting to uncover evidence that doesn’t suit their agenda.

MaidOfStars · 15/01/2018 22:39

Agree that cuddling is not consent.

I can’t believe the investigation didn’t find the pictures?!? Is their claim that there was ‘nothing of interest’ an acknowledgement that cuddling is not consent?

Joey7t8 · 15/01/2018 22:53

The man had deleted the photos and the police IT forensics didn’t bother attempting to recover them. His defence had to get the phone and do their own recovery of the deleted files. It was only then that the CPS realised that the woman’s story was undermined and made the prosecution case too weak to proceed with.

I don't know about this case but I used to work in this area & the police do not have the final say - its the CPS that decide whether a case is strong enough to be tried, sometimes although its believed the victim might not make a good witness or something, I don't expect its the same scenario in this case but they apparently take it all into account. I'm not saying they are always right & it used to upset me hugely when someone was not given the opportunity to get justice for what often seemed like laziness.
