To complain about pizza delivery?

So earlier I fell down the stairs. I looked after the DSs for the rest of the day - one is three and the other four months, so it was fully hands on. By the time DH came home I was very achy and bruised so he took over so I could have a lie down. We decided to make life easy for ourselves by ordering pizza for dinner.

When the pizza came, DH answered the door holding the baby. According to him, the delivery man told him to put the baby down.

DH put the baby in his pushchair bassinet, which we keep in the porch next to the door. The pizza man then said "That's not good enough is it? Where's your wife to hold the baby?"

AIBU to find this rude/judgy and possibly complain?

*his...

ThisLittleKitty · 15/01/2018 19:04

Maybe he didn't want to risk your dh dropping the pizza and then complaining about that aswell and wanting a new one.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 15/01/2018 19:12

You can’t hold a baby and a pizza box. You need two hands surely! The pizza man was looking out for your pizza.

shakeyourcaboose · 15/01/2018 19:14

Its a bit much ado about nothing.... Prob meant it as would be less of faff if someone else holding baby than, put baby in pram in porch, pay for pizza, pick up pizza, take pizza through- leave baby in pram in porch? Then back for baby? Maybe thats what he meant? Concern baby would be left in porch even briefly?

BattleaxeGalactica · 15/01/2018 19:15

The guy has a minimum wage job hauling pizza round the neighbourhood in the dark and against time and you want to complain about that? Sounds like he was trying to make small talk to me. Complain if you must but before you do have you ever seen those restaurant revenge programmes?

Just askin'.

NotCornflakes · 15/01/2018 19:16

It was a weird thing to say but I wouldn't complain about it.

FML2017 · 15/01/2018 19:18

Wow, talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. There was no need for the detail about your tumble down the stairs either, it's almost as if you yourself are trying to justify why you weren't there to hold the baby.

peachypetite · 15/01/2018 19:18

Pick your battles. Enjoy your pizza.

TheIrregularChoice · 15/01/2018 19:23

Total non issue.
Hope you’re ok after the fall.
Enjoy the pizza. Pizza is great.

etap · 15/01/2018 19:42

But the nasty pizza man, and OF COURSE it was a MAN, said to DH that... err... wait, what are we getting angry about again?

Get over it, OP

harrietsoton · 15/01/2018 20:04

Doesn’t sound like you have much of a life OPConfused

Why is your husband answering the door for a pizza delivery whilst carrying a baby? You were both aware that you ordered pizza and that it was the pizza delivery arriving surely? Common sense would dictate that you couldn’t safely carry both a child and a box of pizza - one will give. That’s what the pizza driver was trying to get across, so he waited for him to put the baby down before recieving the pizza. Honestly cannot comprehend how you have missed any sort of logic

Tipsntoes · 15/01/2018 20:08

If he was an intelligent, well rounded, educated type, it's unlikely he'd be delivering your pizza, but he delivered it hot and on time (?) was concerned for your pizza/baby and made an attempt at humour/conversation with DH. Leave him be.

Nicknacky · 15/01/2018 20:10

tip Have I read your post wrong? Are you saying because he is a delivery driver he won't be educated, well rounded and intelligent? How do you come to that conclusion?!

shakeyourcaboose · 15/01/2018 20:11

Really tips???

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 15/01/2018 20:18

Why did your DH open the door to a pizza delivery guy with a baby in his arms? And why do you have to justify ordering it in the first place by explaining that you had an accident earlier in the day?
Did you bang your head? Did your DH bang his?

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 15/01/2018 20:20

tips. Most of the takeaway delivery guys round here are Uni students??

VladmirsPoutine · 15/01/2018 20:23

What a bizarre thread.
Eat your pizza and get on with the rest of the new year.

peachypetite · 15/01/2018 22:20

Also - what has the story about you falling down the stairs got to do with anything...

BadLad · 15/01/2018 22:30

I love when people on MN feel the need to go into the backstory to justify why they’re having fast food. Always happens with Pizza or McDonalds

Grin. I hadn't noticed that, but will look out for it in future.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 15/01/2018 22:30

Yabu for calling it a bassinet, let alone the rest. Why did the poor pizza delivery man have to point out to you husband that he should put the baby down to take the pizza boxes of him?

JeReviens · 15/01/2018 22:34

Total non-event. Do you have a pretty uneventful life OP? I assume so if this is the very height of excitement for you

BulletFox · 15/01/2018 22:34

He probably meant 2 pairs of hands were required. One for pizza, one for baby.

Letsgetreadytorumbleagain · 15/01/2018 22:38

I can definitely hold a pizza box and a baby - not sure why people think you can't Confused

DreamyMcDreamy · 15/01/2018 22:56

Complete, total, utter non event. You've given it far too much headspace already.
Complain? Why?! You weren't even there so don't know the tone or how it was said, or anything!
YABU, and no I wouldn't complain. An eye roll after closing the door would have sufficed!

Ghanagirl · 15/01/2018 23:13
