To ask if you use a Joie 360 Spin car seat (ERF) how much it wobbles?

Currently in a courtesy car (s-max) which is listed as a compatible car but the seat seems to wobble a lot side to side and i can lift the leg off the floor quite easily. the isofix points and the leg are both showing green. It just doesnt seem as stable a fix as in my old car.

So anyone who is using this seat, does yours wobble? If so how much? Am i safe to assume that if the leg and isofix points are showing green then its ok?

We have one that we use as a spare if we need to take DD in my dad's car or something - it wobbles a bit but not much. I would have it checked if I were you, OP, better to be safe than sorry!

SadieContrary · 15/01/2018 16:27

Yes! I thought it was just us.
Bought one last week, fitted into my car and despite all the points being green and as tight as they could be etc, I felt it really wobbled.
DH was adamant that it's fitted completely as per the instructions but I'm wary. DD still in her MaxiCosi Pebble til I can make it back to the shop and get someone to check.

SadieContrary · 15/01/2018 16:28

I can't easily move the leg though. Just wobbles about if I push it

HeartOfPack · 15/01/2018 16:34

Thanks for replying.

If you grabbed hold of the leg, could you lift the whole seat upwards with it (so lifting the leg up off the floor vertically rather than pulling it out to the side or forward and back). Obviously the isofix stops it lifting up completely but i can lift the leg a fair way up.

i'm a long way from a shop that can check it, we are very rural.

No, our leg is rigid. It's just the seat that seems wobbly if I wiggle it (apologies for crap description- it's hard to explain!)
I've sat DD in it and spun it into position and back. Driven around the small estate we live in and braked hard and all seems fine.
Have you looked for any YouTube videos for that seat? Sometimes people make tutorials for random things like that and post them

HeartOfPack · 15/01/2018 17:04

good idea about the youtube, will have a look.

it is hard to describe isnt it!

logic says the leg is only to 'support' the seat rather than actually prop it up though.

i really thought that isofix was supposed to be easy!!

My Dualfix was wobbly, once the isofix anchors are engaged you need to give it a good gradual shove into the back of the car seat. You should hear it click a few times as the Isofix shortens.

This will tighten the seat and it should then be completely solid. The leg going up isn't a huge deal as it is there to help prevent the seat moving forward in a frontal collision (i.e weight is supported downwards, not up)

HeartOfPack · 15/01/2018 17:50

nothing useful on you tube. although as nothing in the fitting tutorial mentions checking for side wobble or up and down wobble it would seem that as long as all markers are green then its ok.

i cant pull the seat towards the back of the passenger seat - so like heavy breaking would do - so its fully attached to the isofix.

tomorrow i will try and see if i can push it closer into the seat back, although the fitting guide says this isnt necessary and that it can be used in any fitting length to allow legroom for older children (DD is 2).

If I get any useful pointers once I've been to the store then I'll let you know. Maybe it is correct and we can just stop worrying. Fingers crossed

nigel129 · 01/08/2018 21:38

Same here worried if the lateral sideways movement is acceptable or have we fitted incorrectly.

AOH3 · 06/11/2018 22:47

Did you get this resolved? Just bought one and it’s really loose and I can pick up the leg as above

MuncheysMummy · 06/11/2018 23:15

I have one for my now 2.4 year old yes his does wobble side to side a bit but it has done this the same amount in any car I’ve had it in, I’ve had the seat for almost 2 years and had it In 4 different cars from a Discovery 4 to a Mini Countryman (very different bodies and sizes) and has always wobbled a bit laterally.

AOH3 · 07/11/2018 06:49

Thanks for reply. I don’t mind side to side but should I be able to lift it all up off the seat with one hand and little effort?

MrsPotts85 · 16/03/2021 06:52

Did anone ever find an answer to this after having it checked? Having this issue and nowhere to check its ok due to covid x

The wobble is meant to be there and helps with the dissipation of movement. If the seat was totally solid the baby would rattle in the seat where as the movement acts like suspension and softens any impacts. The seat is fixed to the cars chassis so it will not go anywhere as long as the green indicators are showing. Please see a video by Joie themselves m.youtube.com/watch?v=vtXzehjYJR4

Mine doesn’t wobble at all but it took me and DH working really hard to ensure the base was wedged firmly enough onto the floor. If someone else can help then dismantle it and try again - if it still wobbles then you may need to ask Joie for a replacement.

Sorry my reply was to you. The seat is not meant to wobble. If it does then you either haven’t fit it properly or your car might not be compatible.

Joie can also show green when the base hasn’t fit properly to the floor. You only put stock to the green ticks when the base is attached firmly to the floor.

80Dodgeballs · 27/07/2021 20:19

I've found that with all the Joie's that I've tried to fit in both my previous (Ford) cars they didn't fit well at all (despite being on the fitting list) to the point that I didn't feel they were safe enough to buy. Never had a problem with any other car seat brand.

Now I have a Mazda, I ought to try again to see if it's the car brand or the car seat brand!

GreyEyedWitch · 27/07/2021 20:21

Ours doesn't wobble at all.

Abdam · 27/07/2021 21:29

The official video by Joie shows and says there should be give. (Just watch it above) It's officially by them and if there's not give then that's a point for the baby to hit a solid wall with no give.

It said make sure the isofix is attached pulling the fittings and the green just shows the clips are closed, it's up to you to make sure they are closed on the attachments themselves

Abdam · 08/08/2021 18:09

I just went to a company who are experts expert in this like this, showed them my car seat and they say that it's meant to be like that (as the video shows).

Yes the base won't wobble but the wobble you experience when rocking the seat side to side (about 2 inches or so wobble) is there be design and they would totally trust putting their own baby in the seat. If it didn't wobble the force would be so strong in the even of an accident and will most like harm the baby more if the seat doesn't wobble. That was from experts own mouth when assessing my seat.
