Therapy or ...?

I have always had bad anxiety and been diagnosed with GAD. With antidepressants and beta blockers I now manage it pretty well but would like to conquer it, if that’s possible.
I had a short course of CBT about ten years ago to resolve a specific issue but I’m not looking for that kind of technique. As I say I do have coping mechanisms.
Many moons ago I did some training (part of PGCE) in transactional analysis and it opened a huge can of worms.
I have had some traumatic things happen to me which I choose not to think about anymore. Mainly.
So would AIBU to leave the past where it belongs or would some kind of ‘deeper therapy’ be a good use of time/money.
I should add I did pay once before and the therapist started crying so that was off putting to say the least!

I think finding a therapist specialising in trauma. You may need to address those to move on? I AM NOT in anyway knowledgeable here but I can't imagine having unacknowledged ttrauma is easy for your psyche?
Just perhaps a therapist not going through their own issues!

Thank you.
I wonder if any of you would rather have left the can of worms unopened?
I’m in a good place now.

I opened the can of worms, it was hard but worth it. I had a fantastic gestalt therapist though, I wouldn't have managed without him.
