I wondered why they were all disappearing. Today I realise they have been rebranded the Hearty Food Co!

Really? Didn't know that.

Bumsnetnetbums · 14/01/2018 23:00

Are prices the same?

lindsaydoll82 · 14/01/2018 23:12

Ooooh I didn't know that but I've been buying The Hearty Food Co Penne Pasta for a few weeks now. It's only 30p a bag and tastes great! I did wonder why it was so cheap

OliviaMansfield · 14/01/2018 23:12

I'm not sure if they're exactly the same prices but definitely very similar.

I haven't been able to get value pasta for weeks and today its there. 500g of spaghetti for 20p sporting a Hearty Food Co label. That got to be the value one? I'm sure the value one was 19/20p

They do this every so often based on customer feedback.
That's why the value blue stripes went because apparently it made items look cheaper.
No idea if they'll do it to all the value range.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 14/01/2018 23:17

I used to to really like the packaging on the Tesco value products, how it was slightly different on each item. I even googled the designers cos I'm such a saddo. So have they changed that now then? (I am an Aldi defector).

memememum · 14/01/2018 23:18

How lovely that your Epiphany came during Epiphanytide Smile

Bobbiepin · 14/01/2018 23:19

Asda have done it too, now called farm foods or something like that.

NoMudNoLotus · 14/01/2018 23:25

OMG thankyou so much @OliviaMansfield !

I wondered where the value stuff had gone ... im just going into my online shop thats coming tomorrow to change some of the items to the "hearty" range where i used to get stuff - you have saved me money !!

OliviaMansfield · 14/01/2018 23:27

There's not a massive range of it yet on mine NoMud, but our local store is quite small.

I've never understood why any supermarket's 'value' range was marketed with cheap looking packaging. I think they're missing a trick, personally.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 14/01/2018 23:32

Tinkly me too! I really liked that packaging as it had a slightly retro look.

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 14/01/2018 23:32

Ooh, I may now be able to sneak some value products into our basket under their new guise. I think some of the value products are just as good as branded, DH is a food snob.

Pythonesque · 14/01/2018 23:32

They seem to have changed their value ranges to various titles by category. The pasta change is more recent than the fruit and veg changes for example. Which reminds me, must look out for what they might have done to value rice ...

Jassmells · 14/01/2018 23:37

Oh I still had some value stuff delivered this week..? Didn't they try this before with the "Rosedene Farms" etc and it was all going to change but didn't?

CrochetBelle · 14/01/2018 23:39

"Oh yay, rebranding!" said no autism-parent ever.

thenightsky · 14/01/2018 23:40

I know the chap who designed the original blue and white stripe value print. I wonder if he knows it is no more.

Bubbaleo · 14/01/2018 23:40

NoMud, can you change your list at this time eith Tesco, for delivery tomorrow? With Sainsbury, it has to be done by 11.pm.

Chouetted · 15/01/2018 00:07

You can change it up until 8am for an evening delivery.

southboundagain · 15/01/2018 00:19

"I've never understood why any supermarket's 'value' range was marketed with cheap looking packaging. I think they're missing a trick, personally."

Because ideally, they don't want you to buy the value range if you can afford the next brand up.

southboundagain · 15/01/2018 00:20

Sorry, pressed submit too early - because the value range is handy for using up things like broken kidney beans, but it has really thin profit margins on it. These days, of course people aren't in a position to be so picky but I know when I was growing up, people were really snobby about the value ranges.

OliviaMansfield · 15/01/2018 00:40

Oh gosh. Hell in that case!

""I've never understood why any supermarket's 'value' range was marketed with cheap looking packaging. I think they're missing a trick, personally.""

If you're looking for something cheap, you want to be able to identify it easily.

ThisLittleKitty · 15/01/2018 01:29

I'm glad they changed it. Will probably be flamed for this but I do think the other packaging stood out like a sore thumb and people do judge IMO if your buying loads of value stuff and see you as a "cheapskate"

Monty27 · 15/01/2018 02:17

I think value ranges make savings on design and packing. Not necessarily the contents.
