And how you prevent the board being jammed with short words which make it much more difficult to get closer to the end of the board for triple word scores.

How often, in a game, are you using your turn to swap a letter?

I repeatedly get lots of vowels at once or consonants such as Q,K,Z,X,Y's all at once which results in me just playing really badly.

Any tips? I'm a sore loser.

How often are you using your turn to swap letters?

Only if I'm significantly ahead of my opponent or I've got a rack of Is and Us and never more than once per game

LavenderTrug · 15/01/2018 09:16

QUEUINGS for 221, probably exchange tiles once per game.

Babbling across two triples scored me 168. Game score somewhere around 540 I think. I used to pay against an English teacher online and he could score 600 in a game at times.

Someone else I used to pay with I would consistent beat and then he started to win most of the time... Think he started using the internet anagram server which is most definitely cheating! On FB he doesn't know the difference between their and there. Hmm

Consistently!

Are You not allowed to use the dictionary to check a word exists before you play it?

For a game, nearly 400, for a word, 60 something? I will check my old scores (about 12 games worth scribbled on 3-4 envelopes, laying in the bottom of the box). Used to play with ex, now play with my mate (going to teach ds soon).

I never win because I make it easy for my DD's. DH is competitive and likes to win and they'd lose interest if DH and I won all the time and really we use the occasion for family time, not to upset someone. So I won't use up the obvious letters or words so they can have them, or leave the double/triple squares. DD's are teenagers BTW Blush

@Munrow. I'd allow checking the dictionary for a word you already have in mind. But putting your letters into this link to find anagrams is cheating in my opinion. It is a great site though. wordsmith.org/anagram/

An anagram for 'mumsnet aibu' is 'aim bums tune' Smile

I've only got all seven letters out at once, and I found a lone F on the board which I turned into FROTTAGE. Sorry about that, nan Grin
