New person at work sitting next to me?

Brought in from different department to help with work load. Had minimal training - not their fault.

Due to our workload being extremely high we’re being targeted now very heavily.

I think it’s unfair that new person will (understandably) be asking me lots of questions and therefore distracting me and meaning I have less time to do my own work.

Aibu?

Thing is, Curtain - without knowing the job - I suspect the person being borrowed from the other department, is only going to ask when they are stuck. If they can't then carry on with the task, then they would effectively be sitting there twiddling their thumbs until the OP deigned to help them, maybe 2 or 3 hours later. What a waste of extra help!

Maybe you can ask your boss if you can give then some of the more simple parts of your job?

I hope the newbie gets support from their line manager.....

So do I as OP sounds really hard work.

Has anyone actually said that they expect you to oversee and help the new person?

Do you never ever ask for advice or clarification or work in any kind of teamwork way with anyone else in your entire workplace?

If you have been told you're expected to teach the new person plus do your normal work then YANBU. If you literally come in and never have any interaction with anyone else (therefore taking time away from their work) then YANBU. If you are assuming that you're going to have to teach them and you ever ask for help or a second eye on anything then YABU and not team spirited at all.

Also if that new person is helping your team then surely your work stress should decrease... but only if you incorporate them into the team, not just see them as an extra stressor. But if you're not actually a manager in any way then YANBU not to instantly see that. Bit common sense though really.

Also I wasn’t rude. If you find that rude then you need to get out into the real world.

You were rude and I live in the real world!

YABU, I'm not sure why you've been selected you clearly don't have the right attitude!
