To wonder if my rag doll will forgive me ....

..... for popping her in the washing machine this afternoon Shock

I do love her—she listens to no end of my inane ramblings about life, the universe and everything else under the sun—but she was a bit grubby and needed a bath.

I did feel strangely guilty watching her go round. She's out now and drying.

Sorry Isobel Blush

I genuinely thought you were talking about a cat for a minute. That says a lot more about me being tired than it does anything you've written! I just assumed you meant rag doll cat not an actual rag doll because I'm an idiot - thought it might give you a laugh anyway.

iwouldgoouttonight · 14/01/2018 18:23

I thought you meant you'd accidentally put your rag doll cat in the washing machine. Shock

iwouldgoouttonight · 14/01/2018 18:24

Ha I'm tired too Lost

Noooooo she'll never ever get over it and I suggest you lock all the knives away tonight !

I washed DS teddy bear (I bought the teddy bear when I was pg about 20+ weeks. I wanted one with "A Look" and went to every toy shop in Glasgow centre to find him) Bit of back story to show how precious he is.

I washed him in a net padded laundry bag so I couldn't see his poor little doleful face through the suds and glass.

stevie69 · 14/01/2018 18:26

Ooops, I'm so sorry. I really hope I didn't alarm anyone. I must confess that I've never heard of a rag doll cat Blush

No, this is just a doll. But I love her Blush

I've just h ad a Google. They're lovely, aren't they? And no, I definitely wouldn't put a cat in the washing machine Smile

I also thought it was a Cat you were talking about!

Justabadwife · 14/01/2018 18:46

Don't worry OP. I put dds special rabbit (she has slept with it every night since she was 18mnths old, shes now 8.5) in the wash late late yesterday evening, dd went to bed and I sat and waited for it to finish in the dryer and then took it back to dd, who was asleep but not fully iyswim.
She was over the moon, and this morning I asked where rabbit was and she said 'I left her sleeping in bed, because she was exhausted after her late night'

So OP maybe your rag doll just needs a long nap when shes finished in the wash.😂😂

stevie69 I hope poor Isobel will be ok. I had loads of dolls as a kid. Loved my Sindy ballerina doll especially. My guinea pigs listen to MY inane ramblings (and they are, very) but guinea pigs thankfully are not machine washable

poetryinmotion13 · 14/01/2018 19:02

My friend has a rag doll cat. So fluffy and gorgeous.

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 14/01/2018 19:04

It’s a spa day..!!!! She’ll thank you for it..!

MsHopey · 14/01/2018 19:05

I have my Polly. She's way too fragile to go in the washing machine now. She got stitched up knees and neck from just being generally worn.
She gets hand washed in the sink :)

ilovechocolates · 14/01/2018 19:10

I washed my cat's stuffed rat and she sat in front of the washing machine until it had finished 🙈 and 'helped' it dry by lying with it on the radiator. Now I tend to steal it when she's asleep...she gives much a sad look when she realises what I've done again

stevie69 · 14/01/2018 19:53

She seems to have come through unscathed. She still has a lovely big smile on her face. I never had a doll as a child. I think i was probably a bit of a 'tomboy' back then (we're talking the early 70s), which I think is why I love Isobel. Mum bought her for me a few years ago on a whim: she just liked the look of her.

Anyway all is well and I'm sure we're still friends Smile

I came on here because I was intrigued as to whether you meant cat or doll. Glad you meant doll!

Just to warn you, I washed my 70s raggedy Andy and his ageing cotton face split... So in thirty years time just give her a flannel wash, or she might hold a grudge Wink

HeyhoIndigo · 14/01/2018 20:04

I had a Hollie Hobbie doll when I was a kid. Wish I still had her she had a lovely costume on
