AIBU to ask how to holiday cheaply?

We are a family of four and have previously been able to spend 5k on lovely villa holidays (self catering) with days out etc.
Last year we couldn't afford to go away at all. In reality we can't this year or for the foreseeable future but I'd love to be able to have a break.

But. We can't camp. It's non-negotiable due to SEN and phobias. We would happily have a caravan but Eurocamp looked really expensive.

Also I know we sound awkward but no Butlins style stuff either due to the SEN. We need space away from other people.

Any ideas? I know loads of people holiday affordably so I just want to know how Smile budget is as little as possible but definitely under 1.5k.

May Half Term is a great week to go since most of Europe don't have a school week off then so prices won't be peak.

I haven't been to Butlins but Eurocamp is just one of many operators who have accommodation on similar holiday campsites/resorts albeit in warmer climes than Minehead, Skegness or Bognor Regis.

Don't book with Eurocamp. We have booked lastminute (under a month to go) to both Duinrell (Thomson Al Fresco) & Union Lido (Gustocamp) for under £250 for a 2/3 bed top range mobile home in the past. I'd be surprised if you can't get a last minute Whitsun deal for

I agree with pp. Butlins are VERY SEN friendly.

I did a Christmas break there with 2 out of 3 of us with physical disabilities, it was fab, and they noticeably were a lot of disabilities and SENs. It was great. No one stared at us! We were normal.

There are on site Caravans and self catering, I’d recommend having a chat with them before dismissing it.

Watching with interest. We are 5, and can't afford >£1000 for a week in the summer.
