to get a masters degree in a different field.

I feel like I have been studying my whole life.

I think I can be considered a perpetual student.

This is not AIBU, but I don't know if I should be pissed at myself or excited.

OOh well done everyone on their studies.

Congratulations MissSpock

I'm wasting spending several hours a day currently wondering whether to do an MSc or an MA at the moment, and whether to go via OU (MSc) or local University (MA).

Can I be nosy & ask what qualified you for full funding, please? What was the criteria/circumstances. No worries if that's too nosy!

I'm not from the UK.

I don't have full funding. There are only two places - subsidised and full fee. I was fortunate to get one of the few subsidised places so I'll be paying just around 1/3 of the tuition cost.

The requirement was (on top of the basic course requirements) you need to have a certain average to apply for one. Then the university decides who among the applicants will be offered the subsidised place.

I think it was another poster who got a full funding in the UK. :)

If you are in the UK and under 60 when you start your course, you qualify for a non means tested student loan, which you do not have to repay unless you earn over £25k.

OldTroutQuintet · 15/01/2018 13:59

I recommend going via the local uni rather than on line, more inter-reaction and more satisfying.

You're definitely not too old, I'm halfway through my 2nd degree and I turned 43 when I started.

Ooohhh you're going to enjoy stepping off the work-home treadmill and the freedom of student life.

Good luck Flowers

I'm 36 and just about to start a very expensive double Masters program and I am scared shitless.

I'm moving countries, I have been offered a 15% bursary but will be self-funding the rest. Need to secure a job or multiple part time ones as well as accommodation before my savings run out.

I know no one who has done this, friends and acquaintances I've spoken to haven't been very encouraging or supportive so I would love to hear more stories of people who have been through this, survived and gone onto a good career.

Wishing everyone success with your Masters and careers.
