To be annoyed with Aldi meat label?

Just got a pork joint out of the freezer to defrost for tonight, slid off the outer sleeve & found this anti meat label on it. It’s well packed, air tight, sealed but I am furious. I don’t lecture veggies buying palm oil on how they are destroying the orangutan’s rain forest?

To be annoyed with Aldi meat label?

It's not contaminating if it's on the outside of the plastic wrapping.

Igneococcus · 13/01/2018 07:59

The sticker is outside the packaging. How could it be contaminating the meat?

There are mumsnetters who punch cakes in supermarkets. It seems you can get away with quite a bit without being noticed.

Oblomov18 · 13/01/2018 08:02
Grin But seriously, who put it there? And when? That's not good. Please let Aldi know. Email their head office.
SerendipityFelix · 13/01/2018 08:14

Who punches cakes? Why punch cakes?

OP - contamination, what? Seriously have a think about why this has got to you so much.

pinkmagic1 · 13/01/2018 08:17

Yeah, who punches cakes and why?

When I was an idealistic young student I used to sticker south. African proce with anti apartheid labels. I got kicked out of our local International for that. (I was shitting myself the whole time)

Make your own labels stick them over the bags of carrots ‘when you eat these the fluffy bunny will starve to death’

sinceyouask · 13/01/2018 08:25

Ha! That's brilliant.

SerendipityFelix · 13/01/2018 08:27

Goodness. If you’re going to punch cakes, at least they should be cakes you own. Smile

I put mooncup stickers up in loos when I was a student.

There’s some admirable sticker campaigns on the tube as well, targeting adverts objectifying women etc.

Igneococcus · 13/01/2018 08:29

The cake punching thread is possibly in classics but I can't quite remember which one. It might be the one where someone took cornflake/chocolate cakes to a cake sale and the person in charge of the sale sneered at her that children would prefer "real" cakes.

c75kp0r · 13/01/2018 08:30

To begin with, I thought OP was getting upset about nothing but then I thought that if SPUC attached a pro life label to a product, I would be mightily upset so I can see your issue, OP though a vegan label wouldn’t bother me personally - possibly as I do think we produce and eat too much meat.

namaste86 · 13/01/2018 08:31

Who's Gary? I'm intrigued.

PinkAvocado · 13/01/2018 08:31

I love this! Brilliant stealth campaigning.

BearFoxBear · 13/01/2018 08:32

Brilliant Grin. I don't see why it would make you angry, unless of course it's because you know that they're right.

Anasnake · 13/01/2018 08:33

Don't be such a drama llama, the food isn't contaminated and no one is forcing anything on you. People have the right to protest and you have the right to ignore it.

Igneococcus · 13/01/2018 08:35

Gary

I don't think it was him personally since he seems to be banned from entering Britain.

Faking · 13/01/2018 08:40

Not at all defensive! Just used palm oil as an example, shall we switch to soya instead? I think you missed the point that I was annoyed that someone was trying to force their life style choice on me when I wouldn’t dream of interfering in theirs

If s/he had truly tried to force their lifestyle choice on you, you'd have been defrosting a cauliflower steak, or some such like.

Get a grip! Grin

TreacleBoo · 13/01/2018 08:53

OP you do realise that a very very high percent, something like 85/90%, of all soya produced is used to feed livestock? Maybe you should check your facts before you try & bring out these ‘brilliant comebacks’ Wink

BornInSydneyy · 13/01/2018 08:57

gary yourofsky .. all I know about him is that he made a very famous speech and turned a lot of people vegan from it.

So I’m assuming that label is a quote from his speech.

blueyacht · 13/01/2018 10:40

Could you perhaps contact your local paper and do a "sad face" photo with the offending label? It will get the message out to an even wider audience. Thanks!

Weedsnseeds1 · 13/01/2018 11:22

Someone's put it on in the shop. The factories have automated labelling machines and CCTV everywhere.
