What is your mortgage payment?

On the back of the thread about wages, where a couple of posters have said that what constitutes a good salary depends partly on how much your mortgage is, just wondering what mortgage people pay per month?

DP and I pay 1800 a month which I think must be quite a lot... it takes a big chunk of our salaries!

I have a buy to let property and even with good tenants it causes me a shit load of stress. I’ve only had it a couple of years. Rent is less than my mortgage payments and I’ve had to fork out for a new boiler and a fridge freezer.

Time will tell if it’s a good investment or not.

£0.00 . South east village property £900 k .

Sure, you need to do due diligence now and research areas with good fundamentals but still easily doable. It is what I am doing. Have set up and SVP Ltd company and will be transferring money into it and buy houses using Ltd company mortgages.

There's no point overpaying a £400k mortgage off in tens years when instead I could have enough for a deposit every 2 years and end up with 5 additional property's each giving me a passive income and opportunity of capital growth assuming I've invested in up and coming areas, HS2 areas, London commuter area etc.

To pickachew btw

cafeaulaitpourvous · 13/01/2018 00:24

£300 a month

House worth £230000
Bought it for £28000………… long time ago

Only a few years left

Lovejoyfull · 13/01/2018 00:32

These threads are fascinating. Such a difference up and down the country. Mine is around £3600 pcm with 8 years left. The house is now worth £1.7m thanks to crazy house prices in London.

polaricecaps · 13/01/2018 00:59

£700, about 30% of income, where property is not too expensive.

We have paid off half of this house - if we'd never moved bigger we'd have been mortgage free by 40.

Cannot comprehend mortgages of £1000+, but then cannot comprehend the salaries that match!

NewBrian · 13/01/2018 01:03

I didn’t see the other thread. I don’t have a mortgage, I rent from the council for £400 a month and it makes living off my low income (about 15k) quite comfortable

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 13/01/2018 06:29

our mortgage is 25% of our income, however we overpay by 12.5%

Pugsleypugs · 13/01/2018 06:34

About £1,700 pcm which at a very rough estimate is about 25% of combined wages.

ZaraW · 13/01/2018 06:37

Nothing I paid my mortgage off a couple of years ago. We did without a lot of luxuries but it was worth it to be mortgage free at 44.

Penners99 · 13/01/2018 06:47

£650 a month, about 15% earnings

MerryShitmas · 13/01/2018 06:47

$270 per month but we overpay by $1000 to get it down quicker.
If we can consistently keep repayments at $1200+ which we're doing now we'll have the mortgage paid off in 5/6years (new mortgage on a cheap home)
Location: small town in central qld.
I feel really lucky as my rent was $1200 a month prior to buying this so don't miss the money but know it's there if we need it.
Mortgage left to pay is just shy of 60k. The mortgage was originally 71k.

MerryShitmas · 13/01/2018 06:49

$1200 a month is about 18% of our monthly income.
I know I'm lucky. Smile

Maddiemademe · 13/01/2018 06:58

House worth £250,000. £90,000 left on the mortgage and payments are £425 a month. Only borrowed £100,000 though 10 months ago and managed to make overpayments. Moving very shortly though.

maddiemookins16mum · 13/01/2018 07:02

£448. 16% of combined incomes. 5 years left...yay.

ImogenTubbs · 13/01/2018 07:02

Ours is £1,500 on a repayment mortgage of about £320k and a resale value of about £650k.

BonfiresOfInsanity · 13/01/2018 07:09

Ours is about £1750 a month, approx. 35% of income. We’re in the south east.

ferntwist · 13/01/2018 07:13

£980 a month, about 40% of my income

ferntwist · 13/01/2018 07:14

Live in London obvs

ferntwist · 13/01/2018 07:15

Actually it’s more like 45%. Ouch

PuddleOfInk · 13/01/2018 07:21

£1400, about 30% of our combined take home (DH's significantly more than mine, I earn less than that mortgage repayment).

Sokuto · 13/01/2018 07:23

£500 a month. House worth £160k with £100k left on the mortgage.

Biker47 · 13/01/2018 07:29

£700, 30+ years left, house about £250k, my half of the payment is about 11% of my monthly wage.

Fairylea · 13/01/2018 07:35

£350 a month, income is about £37k, we have about 25 years left (took out 30 year mortgage). Our home is worth 220k and the mortgage is for £100k. We don’t worry about overpaying or anything like that, we have no desire to move anywhere else either. Just happy plodding along.
